Cissoko's arm-waving, misunderstood

Submitted by Captain Obvious on
DISCLAIMER: I hate all forms of showboating and taunting. It doesn't belong in the game, IMO. However, some things are worse than others. I think when an opponent drops a catchable pass and Booboo starts clapping and waving his arms, many assume he is taking credit for the play's failure. I think this is more of a taunting type of thing where he is calling attention to the player's dropped pass. It doesn't really make sense that he would be congratulating himself on a play where he clearly got beat and his receiver has stone hands. Again, neither are desirable and both possibilities are annoying. But, I'd much prefer a guy trying to get into the opposition's head a little over trying to take credit for a play where he didn't do well.

he's just trying to keep himself in the games mentally. he got worked by michael floyd and golden tate, some corners never recover from something like that. i call it the "jeron hayes syndrome". he was a servicable, if not good, corner before the '04 Braylon Show, afterwards though? not so much. so whatever cissoko has to do to prevent that i'm all for.

Agreed...I dont think his (or any corners) can be con stewed as taking credit for the play. I mean have you ever found yourself doing the exact same thing as you are watching the game on TV or in the stands?? You didnt contribute anything to the play yet you are clapping and bobbing your head. Its the exact same thing yet he is on the field. He may/may not have made a play yet the outcome is the same in the fact that it worked out for the Blue team. End of story.

I honestly dont see the problem with it, hes not out there doing a dance hes just trying to stay in the game and stay pumped up, along with pump up the team.

Whether he is taking credit for the drop, taunting, etc., it is self-aggrandizing. Maybe I don't completely understand the psyche of being on an island play after play. But having been humbled by several receivers now, I'd like to see BooBoo save the demonstrative gestures for truly good plays. If it really is what he needs to get himself in mental shape to play, then so be it. I'll still want him off my lawn, but I'll understand why he's there. But I have a hard time remembering a corner that talked so much after every play. Even the great Charles Woodson -- who loved himself long before we did -- didn't do it after every incomplete pass.

then this exact scenario. The wideout drops the ball and the corner tries to take credit. I must say Boo Boo has been the one guy this year that has gone backwards as far as growing as a player.

BooBoo "Toast" Cissoko is the worst that I've seen...he celebrates with himself after every play. What's next, the throat slit for tackling a guy after a 37 yard gain?! Let him do that crap on the sideline. I hope he gets better or gets lost.

Nice rebuttal. There's really no counter-argument I could possibly muster to that. I'm not sure if it was your exquisite, thesaurus-like diatribe, or the incredible wealth of facts that got me. Either way, I admit defeat.

You need to get a life. It's funny how upset you get over someone stating their opinion on the internet. Just because I don't slurp every player that wears the Maize & Blue...you hate me. Laugh Out Loud! P.S. Cissoko still sucks. That's why he didn't sniff the field yesterday. Neg away Kool-Aid drinkers!

I wouldn't think it is a big deal if a player gets an interception or a tackle for loss but he does it none stop even after the 20 yard gains but maybe he is just happy they don't get any more than that, otherwise i like it when players talk shit to each other.

Why do you assume he's taunting the enemy? Often his arm waving is chest poundting, heart-thumping, which really only means, "Look at me, I'm awesome." I can accept that by Warren or other elite players -- on limited occassions. When they do it, it is taunting b/c it is the truth. You are telling the other team that they will not beat you.... .... but when Booboo does it, OMG. It is beyond annoying. It is embarrassing. Really, it reminds my of middle school kids who are playing poorly, and when they do something well, they try to over react to how great it was. Or, when they are playing poorly and the other player/team does something poorly, they take the credit. That's Booboo, and I don't like it at all.
