They say CW hasn't made a lot of friends in SB, new AD etc. Also, the BTN guy (Chris Martin) they had on said it's a recruiting issue. *Oh Lord.*
They say ND is making a run at the big names (UM, et al).

I really don't want them to get Kelley. Anyone but Kelley (or Urban). I think he's going to be a superstar when he gets to a major power like ND.

I'd love to see what Kelly could do with Weiss's recruiting classes... It would be hard to root for NDs success though - actually it'd still be impossible...

I think Kelly would do great with the studs they can get there. For our sake, I really would hate to see him end up at ND. He seems like a perfect fit for a SEC program...

The new AD and his staff are definitely interested in Kelly. It seems that there is a solid chance of this happening.
ND fans are split. I came over here wondering if a "Profiles in Heroism" on Kelly had been done. Oh well.

Kelly has to be in the mix, and as an Irish (probably) Catholic guy, he'd take it. But it's not a sexy hire, he's not a household name. Notre Dame will look for the home run first.

was a big name around here 12 months ago, Dana. he cleaned up CMU after MDB ruined them and he did it fast. at cinci, he's basically kept the pace dantonio set. lots of ppl loved the idea of him coming to M.
HOWEVAH, there are skeletons... he's basically a douche. and look up the murder investigation stuff from CMU 4-5 years ago. he said/implied some immoral things, IIRC. makes Dana Jacobson look like a Catholic Priest. except they don't let girls become priests. also, Dana J. doesn't molest little boys.
again IIRC, Brian never did a PiH on Kelly b/c the word was he wasn't even being considered due to the skeletons.

ND is SOOOOO image concious, that I can't see them making a run at Kelly. I think they should, but I'd be surprised.

I was watching this site pretty closely 12 months ago when his name was being thrown around. I remember that there was some interest here and I also remember a bit of confusion over why exactly UM wasn't going after him.
I know the "he's a douche" rumors. As for the CMU murder stuff, all I know is his quote that some of his African-American players had grown up in a culture of violence and were taught to look away. Not exactly politically correct perhaps, but I don't think that makes the man a racist or an immoral monster.
I'm interested in any other info anyone might have on his "skeletons" and what specifically makes him a douche. I'm not denying either, I'd just like some facts if they're out there. I've heard a few things, but so far it doesn't get beyond internet message board rumors.
FWIW, I'd say its 50/50 Weis is back next year. I'm not sure the USC game today matters to that. I'm also holding out some very slim hope that our new AD is going after Urban very hard.

Meyer would obviously be a great hire, but why would he leave? He has recruited insane amounts of talent to Florida already and IIRC he passed up the ND job to go to Florida in the first place.

Yea, I agree that the chances of him leaving are very small. However, there were specific reasons and concerns that led to him passing on the ND job originally. These concerns are less of an issue today. Of course, now he has a machine at Florida. I just think that it's possible, even if quite unlikely.

Pretty much what I've heard as well. Although I'm not entirely sure that the only reason he wasn't pursued by M was for integrity issues- that might be giving the search committee too much credit.

But we should be rooting for the Domers against Southern Cal right now. If Charlie wins, he may prolong his career.
On the other hand, it's halftime, Charlie's behind 24-zip and according to the box score they don't have a first down yet and they have a grand total of 9 yards total offense. So, uh, maybe we root for a big comeback to make the final beating seem somewhat respectable?

Notre Dame has run 26 plays and they have 17 yards and zero first downs. I know USC's defense is insane, but this is an insanely terrible showing.
