Chris Perry's Career Basically Over

Submitted by BKFinest on

Sad. He was released by the UFL's Sacramento Mountain Lions. Still a legend forever.

That really is sad.

I'll never forget the thrills he gave me, especially in the 2003 OSU game. He suffered a thigh injury early in the game and just kept getting up and running all over the nuts. All the while the crowd chanted "PERRY, PERRY, PERRY!"

Still gives me goosebumps.

Whenever I think of Perry, the first think that will always come to mind is that game.  Watching the O-Line have to pick him up and set him upright so he could pound out a few more yards was amazing.

My first and only game at sparty stadium...un-fucking-believable performance that day.  He will always be a legend in my mind for that game alone.

This was meant to be a reply to bleednblue, but I'm bad at the internet.  So I'll just say that Perry was and always will be one of Michigan's all time greats.

His 30ish yd run against OSU that totally deflated any hopes the nuts had of mounting a comeback.  He totally froze Nate Salley before busting outside.  Salley stood there as if his legs were swallowed in concrete.  I can still see it like it was yesterday...

Chris joins the ranks of college workhorses who got hurt early in their pro career and never could recover their skill set or overcome injuries (see: KiJana Carter, Blair Thomas, etc). Sometimes I think these college workhorse guys are shredding their body so that by the time they hit the pros, their body just doesn't have anything left.

That used to be the main "knock" on Michigan backs, especially in the Bo era.  Michigan backs were often percieved to have left it all on the field at the Big House and reportedly didn't have anything left for the NFL.

If you're going to leave it all on the field, I can't imagine a better place to do it than the Big House.  Here's hoping Chris does something similar to what Touchdown Tim is doing right now.

I have always been amazed that more Michigan backs didn't make a big impact in the NFL. Seems like you are right though, they get used so much in college they are worn out for the NFL. I really thought Touchdown Tim was going to be huge in the NFL.

you were a true joy to watch.  Your efforts in those games mentioned above were inspirational and made me very proud to be a Michigan fan.

I wish you the very best of luck in whatever you choose to do with your life now.

Loved watching Chris Perry run.  He was a bad mofo.  Wish him the best in his post-football career.  Hopefully he didn't blow the money he made and can use it to propel himself forward in the "real-world."

Wasn't that the game with the cheap shot on Perry where the fans started the "Per-ry! Per-ry! Per-ry!" chant -- trying to will him to stand up?  I was at the MSU game that year, and the 100th game and both were moving experiences.

For us, always a hero, no matter what else he did in football.  As one of the other posters suggested, I wish him all the success in the world for his future.
