Thank God. I hope he can play somewhere or come back next year but regardless I will celebrate that I won't have to read another Chris Evans post for hopefully another 48 hrs.

By the way, is Chris Evans able to go thru the transfer portal? Not an expert but I will anticipate another Chris Evans post by Thursday. I actually do wish him all the best.

University had to do what it had to do.  Seems like Chris has owned the situation.  Best of luck to him and learning a hard lesson that will make him a better man in the long run.

As, far as our RB situation, this does not help an already thin and unproven position group.

I think he is going to be the real deal.

I'm cool with him, Turner, Van Sumeren, maybe a few carries for Mason too. I think that will be enough.

Edit: forgot about Tru Wilson. They'll be fine at RB I think.

Well, it sure would have been nice, but fortunately I don't think he was going to be the one thing that made the offense sink or swim.

Also, it is damn good to see the University has high integrity and standards, regardless of how much I might be cursing this decision come late November.

At this point, I hope Chris Evans can just graduate and get a degree. I had heard nothing but terrific things about him on campus and about his work with youth teams, he seems like a great dude, and I just hope an incident of cheating or plagiarism doesn't define him as a person and ruin his life

Anybody surprised by this news needs to remember Michigan is still a university first, unlike UNC and virtually every SEC school.

I and one other dude were the only ones to write our final FORTRAN program.  Everyone else copied the other dude’s program and changed the variable names.  Since it was graded on a curve and the other guy’s program was better I got a B.   Athletes and really blatant cheats are the only ones who get caught.  Hope Evans gets another chance here or somewhere.

Whatever he did, it sounds like he's planning to take his punishment and come back to finish what he came here for, without whining or blaming others. He appealed the decision, as was his right, but wants to stay and get back on the field when his suspension is over in January 2020. Sounds like someone we'd like to have back.

Must of done something really bad, won’t speculate any further but the offense had to have been pretty severe. Hope he moves forward and can learn from the whole situation.

Well, this was expected.

But I'm still rooting for Chris Evans, and hope he returns to M football.

So what academic dishonesty is there that you can be suspended for a year but not actually expelled? I was under the impression that any academic dishonesty was grounds for expulsion at the university, but the article makes it seem like he's just being asked to take the year off?

Well for the "Charbonnet or Turner" debate, I believe the answer is now yes. Charbonnet/Turner with Tru Wilson as a 3rd down change-of-pace back/ garbage time carries similar to last years Higdon/Evans and Wilson in the same role

JMFH is going really thin at RB.  Is Hassan Haskins worth bringing back to RB?

Is Zach Charbonnet already on campus?   There was something about a minor knee procedure or something.   What's the latest?    So many questions.   It would be really fun to have a true freshman breakout for a 1000 yard season with Shea lighting it up under center.

Don’t mean to be a dick, but you really need to get much more obsessive on M football.  (/s)

Until that time...,Haskins IS back at RB since Spring but nobody outside of Isaiah Hole has been talking him up much - think he was dinged up just like Turner (who is the favorite to begin the year as the starter).  Charbonnet IS in school as an EE - specifically so that he could have his “minor procedure” done by M doctors in January.  He should be good to go (by now) for Summer work and Fall camp.  With the dearth of Fullbacks in the Gattis offense expect to see one or both of “the Bens” getting some run as a bruising tailback/H back combo.  Finally Tru Wilson has one final year as the reliable-if-not-flashy backup and/or pass protection specialist.

Guessing these interactions are coming from much of the staff being out in Western MI at whatever they call SMSB camp these days.

Not worth a new post but a tweet from another reporter this PM noted a discussion with Gattis about the receivers —. Biggest takeaway is that DPJ is “healed/healthy”.

Sucks? No bro, it doesn’t. This was a good move, Chris made a mistake and there need to be repercussions. If anything this seems moderate, he’ll still be a umich graduate.

Chris seems like a good kid.  Hell, even a great kid, who (like many kids) made a bad decision.

That being said from the team perspective I'm sure that he'll be missed, but we will ultimately be fine.

Hope to see him back next year.  Sounds like a good kid that made a mistake and is owning up to it.  Hopefully he's committed as he said he is and works his way back onto the team.

Well damn. I’m sure he deserves it, but still a crappy situation. Must’ve been a really bad transgression.

Hopefully he can learn from this and make his way back in 2020. If Harbaugh affords him the opportunity.
