Well, I'd say OSU being stuck around #10 means it's Michigan or bust for the Big Ten barring some absolute chaos. Maybe that means the Big Ten will stick it to OSU this time to get us into the CFP

Pre-season expectations and perceptions play such a huge factor too. Why is Clemson over ND? Basically because ND was ranked lower to start the season

Notre Dame has wins over #4 Michigan, "#20" Syracuse and "#24" Pitt.

Clemson has the win over Cuse too, plus #22 Texas A&M and that's it. Notre Dame's resume is clearly better than Clemson's, even with Clemson running up the score against the bottom of its schedule and it's basically because the preseason expectations were higher for Clemson

I'm glad they didn't, actually.  That leaves Michigan the opportunity to get big wins over OSU and NW in the CG.  That would be M's 13th 'data point' - the one that ND won't have.  Might be enough to leapfrog ND for #3.  I don't think that happens, but at least the opportunity is still there for it.  If ND had jumped Clemson, any jump for us was off the table.

Slim chance, but its still there...

The committee should really stop including FCS wins in the records they look at. Florida has played 2 FCS schools this season, they should be considered 6-3.

Also in order to be playoff eligible you shouldn't be able to play more than 2 FCS schools over a 5 year span.

He's mistaken. Bama played Louisville in the opener (which to Bama's credit looked like a much better matchup when it was scheduled)

Mercer was their November cupcake last year. This year's non-con was Louisville, ULL, Arkansas State, and the Citadel which is still effectively 3 auto-wins in a league that only plays 8 conference games anyway

Florida has easily got to be the most overrated team in the CFP right now. They are trash.

As you noted, 2 FCS wins, plus a close win vs South Carolina and a blowout loss vs Mizzou. The whole SEC is overrated and their resumes are all one big circular reference circle jerk since none of them play any decent non-con opponents

With all of the commentary about who the committee is using to prop up whom... maybe it’s Michigan that the committee is using to prop up ND. What other “quality wins” do they really have now? Their SOS is not UCF bad, and they certainly “pass the eye test;” but after Week 1, the teams they’ve played have been ass-tastic.

It is amazing how the top ten have distanced themselves from the rest. Here in week 12, 9 of the top 10 teams have 1 or fewer losses. By week 11 of 2016 and 2017 only 6 teams had 1 or fewer losses and by week 12 of 2016 only five such teams remained.

I absolutely don’t care, but I am curious: Why does Oklahoma winning ugly (although the offense is flashy) get a pass, while Ohio State is ridiculed? Any team in the top 15 would hang 40+ on the Sooner defense. Living here in Iowa, I see a lot of Big12 games and Iowa State is the ONLY one that even comes close to a competent defense. ISU has all 2-3 star recruits and SHUT DOWN #13 West Virginia. Big12 is trash!

The SEC seems to be credited for wins over ranked teams but not penalized for losses. So these teams don’t drop in rankings and artificially inflate one another’s ranking. People argue that UF is at 11 bc they beat 7. But then why is LSU #7 with 2 beatdowns?  This and the fact that OSU remains at 10 makes me nervous of the committees intentions. If UM wins out and UGA knocks off Bama then we all know how this story ends.

No love on the Committee for Wisconsin. Wisconsin has to be the most disappointing B1G team this year. Most of that is due to a defense that was average, tethered to an offense that is not geared to come from behind if necessary.
