Nervous about posting before someone else? LOL

I wish something that silly made me nervous instead of other things in life.

Former Michigan coach Brady Hoke won't talk, which is a shame. Part of Peppers' success -- a lot of it -- is because of Oregon's current defensive coordinator. Peppers was arguably Hoke's best recruit at Michigan.

"Charles Woodson was my hero growing up," Peppers told reporters. "He was the guy I tried to model my game after. I can still picture the image of him after that Ohio State game with the rose in his mouth. That's what made me want to wear the Winged Helmet."

Hahaha sorry Hoke. Peppers put the kibosh on your credit real quick

I don't know that it is Hoke's place to comment on teams that he is not playing. Particularly with Oregon in a tailspin; might not be appreciated by the fans, players, and staff where he is. His press availability is determined by the OU AD, after all.

You don't see Don Brown giving quotes on BC players, either.

But, Peppers should not be on punt or kick coverage.  Give the dude a break, before he breaks his leg.  Defense at several positions, obviously.  It prevents the offense from scheming to avoid him.  Returning punts, sure.  He's proven his value simply fair catching punts that another returner would let roll for another 10 yards, and his actual returns are transcendent.  A full offensive package also makes sense.  Just having him the backfield causes the defense to lose its mind and potentially frees up someone else for a big play, plus you know, another chance at transcendence with the ball in his hands.

Making tackles on special teams?  Not worth the risk of injury.

The way I look at it: the Heisman Trophy winner should be a guy who would absolutely be a star at any school, in any system.  His stats might be slightly different depending on scheme but he'd undoubtedly be the star no matter what.

I think we can say this about Peppers.  Even in a Greg Robinson defense he'd be dangerous (just maybe not as effectively deployed).  He's been an awesome kick/punt returner under a couple different ST coordinators.   And he would be a good RB/WR for just about any offense.

OTOH, I don't know if all of these spread QBs like Barrett would necessarily look good in a different offense.  How would they perform under the Hoke/Borges braintrust?

Offenses like Meyer's are fundamentally about making the QB's job easier by limiting the number of reads he has to make.  It's basically the opposite of what we ask of Peppers.  We make his job as hard as possible, having him learn a bunch of different positions at the same time.  And he's thriving.

Article is fine.  All of the stuff we know.  Opposing fan reaction to these articles is so irritating though.  You really have to watch Peppers play every game to appreciate his ability.  Heisman voting comes down to a couple highlights and eye-popping stats.  Jabrill has nothing that caters to that.

Like this anonymous Heisman voter in this article tells Dodd:  "It's easy to be up 50-0 and it's Rutgers and you put him in the Wildcat..."

It wasn't up 50-0.  Peppers broke off a 63 yard run to set up the game's first score when both were slogging around in the rain.  But this anonymous voter doesn't even know that.  They see Peppers had 75 yards and 2 TDs in a 78-0 game and just assumes he was running around in garbage time racking up "dual-threat" stats.

Jabrill's big run set up 7-0 and first TD made it 21-0.  These weren't blowout stat pads.  He was the reason it was a blowout.

I digress.  I honestly do not care about the Peppers Heisman campaign.  It'd be nice.  I'll lose zero sleep over it.  But watching fans of 120 other schools blindly refuse to consider the  versatility and raw ability of this guy is mind-numbing.

Beat Illinois...and everybody else.

It's simple: they're jealous. Who's got it better than us?
