Bay Area folks also think of Draymond as the "real" 23. They're dumb and wrong, but extant.
but as a good homie we don't talk about Moo U atheletes ( notice I did not say students )

Maybe you mean just bball, but 99 I believe is retired NHL-wide for Gretzky.
If someone has little understanding of American culture, they know that 23=MJ. I don't think that's true for any other person, with the possible exception of 42 and Jackie Robinson.
Have to agree with Timmay and others. In bball, 23 is MJ. I love Caris, and wish him the best, but the "real" 23, no. WD is a bit too much at times. Hope he stays healthy, but he is going to one of the worst franchises in the league.
#42 - Jackie Robinson?
#56 - Lawrence Taylor?
just sayin...
Lawrence Taylor is someone I would never even consider putting on that level.
But yeah, uh, #23 belongs to Michael Jordan. Not sure how one can say the "real" 23. Just dumb.
You really think no athlete was ever completely associated with his number before Michael Jordan?????
Gretzky = 99
Jackie Robinson = 42
Those are numbers that nobody else in the sport, on any team, can wear. Meanwhile, Lebron just won his 3rd title -- this time while wearing 23...just saying
To quote Vince...am I missing something with the pheasants ?
That's hilarious WD. And completely btw.
WD, your youth is showing
go get learnt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iuDTsLZUfo
btw, congrats Caris! Go Blue!
Only WD could make a post praising a Michigan player and get hammered for it.
But he wasn't just praising a Michigan player. If that's all it was that would have been great. It's the constant need to do it at someone else's expense, in this case the best player in NBA history. It's insane. Sure, I was over the top in my response, but he does that stuff all the time and it's just annoying (yes, I see the irony).
Just because someone played for Michigan doesn't mean they are better than everyone else.
It means they made a better college selection than everyone else though...
GO BLUE!!!!
Just blew everyone's projections away. Congratulations Caris - Go Blue!!
Maize and blue suit...WHOA.
Good luck Caris!
Bang Banggggg
Extremely happy for him. He was top 12 before the surgery. Glad he didn't slip any further than 20
Congrats Caris and good luck!! Have to say I am surprised that he went that high. Really hope he can avoid further injury and get a chance to make it in the league.
Wish him well. Epitomizes the what might have been nature of the last few years of Michigan basketball
i am shocked. great news. guaranteed contract now awaits.
Wanted him in the 2nd for the Pistons, but very happy for him!! Hopefully this means the Nets did their homework and his foot is totally healthy
Caris is represented by Jay Z's agency, right? And Jay Z has an ownership stake in the Nets? They have better information than anyone.
He had to sell his stake in nets a few years ago when he got into the agent thing.
Everyone has access to the same medical info anyway.
Shed the Nets stake in 2013.
The guy who did Levert's foot surgery is the Net's team surgeon so that's the real in. No one knows better than that guy.
didn't know that. good insight. +1
Jay-z sold his share

Kid deserves it. Glad to hear this bit of awesome news!
That suit, though. All class.
Love that kid.
Didn't see that coming... I actually missed it live. I was feeding my new puppy.
I was looking away at something on the iPad and was pleasantly surprised to hear his name today.
Wonderful. Congrats to Caris and his family. Take care of your money, young man. Seems like a hell of a young guy with a nice future regardless of how this career goes.

Didn't see this posted, could have missed it.
It was posted some time ago. Still a great read!
Was posted, but worth another share. Throughout his career in Ann Arbor I kind of forgot about his tough times, great for him to get this opportunity.
Congratulations to Caris. With the injuries, I honestly wasn't expecting him to go much before the mid to late 2nd round, but a great landing spot for Caris actually. IT will be great to see him get into a game some time this season - always enjoy seeing Wolverines play at the next level.
One minor criticism - that suit....yeah...
Suit would have been so much better with something other than the black shirt and tie underneath. The black on black combo doesn't really go with the maize and blue at all.
But that is a one time suit...
Just great. Happy for Caris and reflects well on the Program.

The Nets are light on shooting guards too. Great spot to earn serious PT.

That's Devin Funchess BTW
My mind is having a hard time registering that Caris is taller than Devin. I know that he is but It's a tv thing. Funchess always looked huge on the football field and for some reason most basketball players don't look as tall to me as they really are.
