Bye Bye Suh

Submitted by WoodleyIsBeast on
Rams just traded Carriker to the Skins, signaling that they will take Suh over Bradford. My guess is that they want to take Locker next year and are thinking they will end up with that top pick. Risky, but I guess it makes sense. Ahhhh chaos!! I would be cool with reaching at #2 to take Berry. If he turns out to be Ed Reed and Sean Taylor in one, it would be worth it.....

Maybe its just wishful thinking, but maybe they do want Bradford and are targeting someone for their 2nd round pick to fill Carriker's void. Its possible the timing is to try and get Detroit to trade up? I think you are right that it doesn't look good. I would be crushed if the Lions don't get Suh. I was planning on buying a jersey before he even stepped onto the field.

Then we HAVE to take Okung. Picking a safety at the number two spot is just bad drafting strategy. Plus we have a much greater need at OT. We need OT more than we need a DT, it's just that Suh is too good to pass up. Berry isn't even a consideration for the Lions at this juncture.

But I don't know if the Lions love Okung at 2. I mean, damn, they were hyping Backus last year. Getting Sims pretty much sold me that they were going to look at OT next year, but I could be wrong. If we do go OT, I'd love to trade down and get either Okung or Trent Williams. You honestly don't think Berry is worth a #2 if he blows up? Him next to Delmas, man that would be sick, maybe Washington or Seattle will want to trade up to take Bradford at #2, then that theory would work for me.

And I think that's definitely the best strategy, to trade down. But I don't think they will at this point. If they traded down that would be simply amazing. So where it stands, to take a safety with the number two overall pick is just too risky. There's too much "bust" factor there. Teams just don't do it. I'm not saying that Berry isn't a talent. I think he is, but I don't think he's enough of a talent to be taken at number 2 overall. That spot is traditionally reserved for a QB, OT, DE or the best player. Berry may be one of the better players in the draft, but I don't think he's worth taking over something like an OT.

A lot of people are higher on McCoy than they are on Suh. If you can't take one DT you move to O-Line? i don't follow the logic...? The lions will have their choice of Suh or McCoy no matter who goes #1. If you want an O-Lineman ... fine ... but taking one because Suh is off the board IMHO is illogical

That's my logic. I know a lot of people are high on McCoy but there's an equal amount of analysts out there that thing McCoy is going to be a bust. He's go the talent, but the knock on him is that he takes plays off. In two seasons, McCoy's numbers combined weren't as good as either of Suh's last two separately. And Suh had less playmakers around him than McCoy, meaning that offenses were able to focus more on stopping him. Who knows what McCoy will do in the pros, but there's just too much risk to take there with the number two overall pick.

There's kind of a chicken and the egg theory about that. Nebraska fans are expecting huge seasons from Pierre Allen and Jared Crick. Crick in particular they felt was also a beast last season. Did Suh free things up for them last season? Of course, absolutely. But it's possible, especially given the Pelinis' track record on the DL, that they've had some supremely talented players around Suh as well.

Backus is better than Hill-Williams.The Lions have had 2 of the 4 worst NFL defenses in NFL history and you want them to take a guy who isn't considered an elite LT prospect??? McCoy is a better prospect than Okung. Hell, I go with Morgan over Okung. The Lions defensive line is weaker than the Lions OL at this point.

OK I get it now, The Rams take Suh. Detroit Trades with the skins to get Haynesworth since the just picked up carriker part of this trade is the Skins and Lions swap First round Picks Detroit get #4 Skins get #2, and with the fourth pick the Lions take Okung

Carriker missed all of last season with injuries, and hasn't really been that big of a contributor in his time as a Ram. While trading him creates another opening for the Rams, I don't necessarily think it means that they'll take Suh first. The Rams also got rid of Bulger earlier this year, so they still have a GAPING hole at quarterback. If they feel like Bradford is the man, they'll still take him.

My money would be on the Rams still taking Bradford. Teams don't get many shots at a QB prospect like him, and like toB said, they have nobody. There's obvious risks, but he is accurate. That said, I'd be ecstatic with Suh, and almost as ecstatic with McCoy.

The low return would indicate that the Rams didn't have him in their plans either way (due to his health issues). Adam Schefter just used twitter to say that the Skins D Coordinator Jim Haslett was a huge fan of Carriker. IMO Carriker acquisition would not necessarily determine a change at the top of the draft (it is possible that Bradford is causing them contract headaches, however). Also, value for Bradford at the #1 from a trade standpoint still very real. I suspect "The Detroit Lions select, with the second pick overall, Nadamukong Suh, University of Nebraska".

Rams just traded Carriker to the Skins for a box with 3 QB hand warmers and some eye black, because Carriker's arm just about fell off last year and the Rams wanted to dump his salary since they aren’t sure he will return to form. RAMS WILL TAKE BRADFORD… Book it. This trade doesn’t affect the 1st pick

Eric Berry is the right choice anyway...I'd choose him with the #2 pick all day, over Suh. Suh would not have thrived in Scwartz's D.... Eric Berry + Louis Delmas = Awesome
