From Bucknuts site: Uncertainty hurting Day, Ohio State on recruiting trail
So, you're telling me there's a chance.
December 16th, 2018 at 7:05 AM ^
Apples and oranges on all counts.
December 16th, 2018 at 7:13 AM ^
I agree. That explains Day and Meyer perfectly.
December 16th, 2018 at 7:44 AM ^
Partisans' "perspective" vs recruits' :)
Day has a roster loaded with talent. If he demonstrates that he knows how to employ talent-look out. Next year Michigan will be given the opportunity make a serious dent in the OSU domination...and if Michigan wins 2 years in a row...look out in the other (Michigan's favor) direction. That's all.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:19 AM ^
You don’t make any sense. Day without a championship will not recruit like Meyer, even if he spanks Michigan twice is a row. Beating Michigan isn’t some amazing thing. Meyer is on another level from Day.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:33 AM ^
In a perfect and rational world you have a point. But I have to assume that, here, you have never recruited. "Perfect" and "rational" does not (well) define the recruiting world. I loved recruiting and getting to know the kids but you win and lose kids for the craziest of reasons. It may be counter-intuitive to you...but you're the one who makes no sense.
December 16th, 2018 at 11:38 AM ^
I think Day @ OSU without a national championship will recruit as well, if not better than Harbaugh @ Michigan without a national championship.
December 16th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
He will almost certainly recruit better than Harbaugh. With dead weight like Pep on staff, Michigan isn’t built to recruit. Also, OSU is a destination that Michigan isn’t for many reasons. There is, however, a lot of space between “better than Harbaugh” and “as good as Meyer”. A huge amount of space.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:22 AM ^
Works regionally but not nationally. If he wins a national championship in the first two years come talk to me.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:55 AM ^
Finally. Someone who doesn’t view the world as a 100 mile circle around Ann Arbor.
December 16th, 2018 at 12:30 PM ^
Yet Day throttles us by 30... In a game Harbaugh HAD to win. Let OSU eat themselves alive with that crap...but if being honest, Day Is likely a heck of a coach.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:57 AM ^
I will bet that Alabama hires someone well known, with a reputation for being a top recruiter when they have to replace Saban. They're surrounded by talent, but also by nearby schools that are serious threats in recruiting. A step back in recruiting after Saban is inevitable, but they will pay to minimize it.
OSU could have done that, but they're taking a gamble with Day.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:59 AM ^
Yeah they’re hiring Urban.
December 16th, 2018 at 9:09 AM ^
They definitely would.
They wouldn't hire someone and let them announce he won't try to recruit like Saban.
December 16th, 2018 at 1:34 PM ^
Think about it . . . if Saban leaves and Alabama replaces him with an assistant that is unknown outside of Alabama, they will still be Alabama and will recruit very well. But they won't be able to keep recruiting at a Saban-level where 5-stars across the country drop everything to go play for the legend.
Those players are going there to play for Saban. There is no equivalent.
Without Saban, there are a number of schools that are equivalent to Alabama.
They will still be good, but they won't be preeminent.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:59 AM ^
I don’t know that day ever can get to where Urban was just because the guy won two while coaching in the recruiting hotbed of the south. He has a unique level of connection and credibility there.
If Day does well he’ll do great on the trail but frankly Urban was recruiting at a level we may never see again for a northern school.
December 16th, 2018 at 10:59 AM ^
Insane to think Day will be in a position to recruit better than Meyer just by continuing to beat Michigan a couple of times. Just insane. Meyer didn't get national recruits by beating Michigan.
One point that's been overlooked is that Meyer lost two of his top recruiters in Zach Smith and especially Kerry Coombs. If Day loses Johnson, that will be a big blow.
December 16th, 2018 at 11:02 AM ^
Day, as OC was one of OSU’s better recruiters so I’m sure he knows the deal.
December 16th, 2018 at 1:30 PM ^
I’ve heard Johnson’s staying put at least that’s what Chase Young is saying he was told by Johnson.
December 16th, 2018 at 6:48 PM ^
He can't recruit better than Meyer. To do so, he would have to out-recruit Saban who is still there.
He can only stay the same or go down from here.
December 16th, 2018 at 1:07 PM ^
If OSU beats Michigan the next two times under Day, I'll just grab my hari-kari knife. Well, maybe not that bad but I don't even want to think about it.
Most celebrated when Meyer the Liar announced his retirement but in reality the pressure went way up on Jim and Michigan to win next year and it won't be easy as Day inherits a loaded OSU squad especially this year's freshman and sophomore classes. And make no mistake about it, that was Day's offense last month that shredded us, not Meyer's.
Now the big question is how does Day adapt to being the man in charge. That remains to be seen. There will be immense pressure from those lunatics in Columbus - can he handle it ?

The article already had a very poignant inaccuracy at the time of its publication yesterday stating osu is ranked first in B1G recruiting rankings again. As of Friday night, that distinction belongs to Michigan when Keegan chose blue. Frankly, that oversight is glaring and odd given the headline. The article makes several compelling points, but this is a detail you really ought to have correct when you are publishing on a website called 24/7 that is focused exclusively on recruiting.
December 16th, 2018 at 11:56 AM ^
Probably referring to average recruit ranking, since it’s hard to compare a class of 23 kids to a class of 9.
OSU is by far #1 in average rating.
December 16th, 2018 at 7:07 AM ^
Spoiler alert- they'll be just fine in recruiting and elsewhere.
December 16th, 2018 at 7:21 AM ^
And what will Harbaugh do? Shit the bed in the not-so NY NY6 bowl
December 16th, 2018 at 7:30 AM ^
I would be mad all the time if I lived in Dayton Ohio too. What a shithole.
December 16th, 2018 at 9:22 AM ^
You've never lived there then. It's a really neat small city.
December 16th, 2018 at 9:58 AM ^
Dayton is one of those "great place to raise a family" cities. It's a tough place to be a UM fan.
December 16th, 2018 at 1:14 PM ^
Not when I lived there in the 80's and early 90's.
I walked around there with a Cheshire Cat grin for years.
December 16th, 2018 at 2:52 PM ^
LOL. Prior to 2002, many Buckeye fans were rude; since then they have been smug and rude.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:14 AM ^
You must be a lot of fun watching Michigan games with.
December 16th, 2018 at 10:15 AM ^
Or anything else
December 16th, 2018 at 7:35 AM ^
Will posts like this help us beat them?
December 16th, 2018 at 7:43 AM ^
they will help us win, but only if you do your part to be prepared for the games and to root hard enough. and to wear your lucky socks. and hat. then we'll win it all.
December 16th, 2018 at 7:48 AM ^
Exemplary snarkiness!!!
December 16th, 2018 at 8:23 AM ^
Exemplar douche bagging!
December 16th, 2018 at 8:14 AM ^
The shirt I wore for the OSU game was undedeated and we still lost. How do you explain that?
December 16th, 2018 at 8:20 AM ^
Easy. The loss was your fault.
December 16th, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
Absolutely. When we weren't covering crossing routes, you needed to change your shirt. You didn't and that's why we lost. You gotta be able to make adjustments, dude.
December 16th, 2018 at 1:32 PM ^
The team was so worried about this guy’s shirt that they failed to score any points in the third quarter!
December 16th, 2018 at 7:45 PM ^
OSU had already kicked the shit out of all of my other shirts. I didn't have an alternative. Either way, it's still my fault. I should have gone out to buy a new one.
December 16th, 2018 at 7:51 PM ^
Your shitty three star under the radar shirts aren’t every going to beat osu.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:22 AM ^
You obviously washed it. Never wash the lucky shirt until after the streak is over.
December 16th, 2018 at 8:39 AM ^
easier still: you didn't have your lucky socks and hat on. so now we know how that disaster happened in c-bus. it was all our friend chalky white's fault. a tragedy that could've been avoided.
December 16th, 2018 at 6:34 PM ^
I failed to make adjustments too. In 2016 I wore a pair of block M earrings for every game. I got a new pair for Christmas that year and wore them to the Orange Bowl-- and we all know what happened in that game. I continued to wear them in 2017, and well, we saw how that year turned out. I reverted to my 2016 earrings in 2018-- failing to realize that they only had luck enough for 10 games in them. I'm sorry guys. I'll do better in the future.
December 16th, 2018 at 7:51 PM ^
My apologies to the board. I had no idea this was my fault until now.
December 16th, 2018 at 9:05 AM ^
You wore it inside out this time, that's why!!!
December 16th, 2018 at 9:33 AM ^
Because I didn't wear my lucky, undefeated pair of tighty-whities that day. How foolish of me. I've hung them with my jersey for next year so I won't forget.
December 16th, 2018 at 11:38 AM ^
You didn't wear it hard enough.
December 16th, 2018 at 9:09 AM ^
I'm giving my Hover Helmet a last chance. It first arrived just before last years bowl game against (NT)USC. After taking a different position, and moving around again, I didn't have it displayed until the OSU game this year.
It has one more chance. If the Peach Bowl is a loss, that Hover Helmet goes in the trash.
December 16th, 2018 at 10:23 AM ^
whoops, bad post
