Mason won best player for his position group (LB) at the NY/NY Opening event yesterday.
Dat avatar, tho
Bambi is a solid movie. Probably my favorite feature length film of the early Disney period, though Dumbo has an argument.
I heard that. Fantasia is Disney trying out various new technologies in animation. Dumbo is more political.
for the shameless, old school racism. Watching it now makes it seem kind of amazing.
This is actually a very good title imo. Buckle up is a standard phrase on this board meaning that a current target may be ready to commit to our beloved football program. Normally, these thread titles end there, which is very click baity, but not to the point that it pisses people of the board off.
Alas, the OP decided to include the name of the person in the title. Which is pretty informative.
The original thread title was simply "Ben Mason" and then OP changed it. So yeah, originally it was a bad title.
Ahh..I see!
It wasnt a buckle up thread when it was first posted.
awesome avatar though
But, the OP has an excellent avatar. Not sure if I should upvote or downvote.
...or this
NTTAWWT!
or even this....
... wit dat?
If anyone of you go to his 247 page, you'll notice where he is from and the school he went to. Then you'll get depressed like me and stop joking...
His school has been well covered. I don't think that's going to surprise many people, let alone change the discussion. I don't know why you're trying to be a downer.
I honestly had no idea. Sorry Magnus, not all of us have a website where we analyze every D1 recruit in America. Should I go sit in the corner as pennance for my ignorance??
The topic has been discussed pretty much whenever Ben Mason is mentioned.
I'm not saying you should feel bad for being ignorant. But I don't know why that topic needs to be dragged into the discussion every time, as if we need to be reminded of a school shooting whenever possible.
Isaiah Wilson is from New York, guys. He might commit to Michigan. But hey, do you remember that whole 9/11 thing?
Jaylon Redd just lit up an iLLSpeed camp. Great prospect. He's from Rancho Cucamonga, which is right next to San Bernardino. You know, SAN BERNARDINO. TERRORISTS.
I'm not saying you should feel bad for being ignorant, but your comparisons aren't even close to sensible - NYC is about 400+ times bigger than Newtown and San Bernadino is probably 10 times bigger. Newtown is about the size of Birmingham, so it likely would have impacted him. Some of us only read the comments once a day or less, since we have, ya know - jobs and lives and whatnot...
Ben Mason would have been 15 or so when the shootings happened, and living in a very small, close knit community. It undoubtedly touched his life very significantly. Magnus making a comparison between that experience and 9/11 is about the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
Right...because 9/11 didn't touch New Yorkers' lives.
Regardless, you're missing the point. My comment is about being a downer, saying nobody would be joking if we knew where he was from. So every thread about Ben Mason needs to be devoid of humor and happiness?
9/11 happened 15 years ago in a city of 10 million people. Current recruits from NYC would have been 2 or 3, and even if it did directly impact their lives, they would have a lesser recollection of it (if at all). Sandy Hook happened 3.5 years ago in a city of 27,500. Ben Mason would have been 14 or 15, and mostly likely much more directly impacted by it. You're not great with analogies and equivalences, are you?
No, you're missing MY point. I did not know where he was from before I went to his 247 page. I learned and it gave me a momentary sad. I mentioned it here, as this - as a "message board" - seemed the appropriate place. I apologize again if I have offended you by doing so.
That's fine.
My issue is with the "If you all knew where he was from, you wouldn't be joking" comment. Many of us do know where he's from. And even so, we don't need to have a moment of silence every time the name "Ben Mason" is mentioned. He's from a town where something bad happened. We get it. It's reminiscent of the "thoughts and prayers" meme:
That's the end of what I have to say on the subject.
He's a nice dude with limited football knowledge who poses as the blog "expert" on recruiting. While he knows about as much if not less about scouting prospects than the average reader on this blog, he at least takes the time and effort to build and post stuff on his blog - which piggy-backs off of mgoblog for traffic.
He's like Uncle Rico, but in the form of a coach, and his efforts to sound more informed and knowledgeable than the rest of the board are quite redeeming if you take them for what they are worth..... a guy who wishes he could be a player, coach, or scout of some significance.
Hell, I wish I could coach football or some other sport at a high level, so in the spirit of old commercial memes...here's to you, guy who creates a blog based on pseudo-expertise which is funneled from information from the four big recruiting sites out there. Given the lack of credentials or expertise required by said sites, I expect you can land a job at one of them, for which you have been positioning for quite some time.

The funny thing is that the only people who refer to me as an "expert" are people trying to drag me down. I don't claim to be anything more than a coach who runs a recruiting site. But don't pretend that I don't do my own writing and analysis, because that's simply untrue. If you don't like the info, then disregard it.
You know, I almost take it as a compliment that someone would take a few minutes out of his day to write up a somewhat fabricated story about me that's only slightly related to the topic at hand. It's almost like he's been planning it for some time and couldn't hold himself back any longer.
Last I heard, you told me directly that you were an unpaid assistant.
You have me confused with someone else. I've been coaching for a long time.
I actually like him. He's always nice and respectful. He's just Uncle Rico to me in general, and his 9-11 comparison here was asinine and absurd so I wanted to undress him a bit for what has essentially become his identity on the blog - psuedo coach/recruiting analyst. Honestly, he is usually great and doesn't rub too many the wrong way.
Wolverine Devotee on the other hand.... that dude needs another hobby.
Those are senior airman stripes...but Capt on the name tape.
Sorry...this was obviously photoshopped.
Yep. It was part of a bad joke that was put on the news a couple years ago. I think at least one person got fired for their poor taste in humor.

It seems like some people at the news agency contacted an intern at the NTSB, who confirmed the names. Then four people got fired once the names turned out to be inaccurate. That's not a great joke to me, but maybe I don't understand humor.
