I'm watching the game and trying to figure out exactly why James Franklin is thought of by some as an excellent football coach?  Bo in a Rose Bowl for Gods sake was more aggressive in his play calling in the red zone than Franklin was yesterday and he punted from our 34 yard line (somewhere Lloyd was smiling) to gain exactly 14 yards of field position.

He trotted out an obviously hurt (and maybe even concussed Hackenburg), never seem to adjust his game plan and even had the announcers questioning his ability to develop players.

He went a glorious 24-15 at Vanderbilt and will prolly finish this year at either 8-5 or more likely 7-6 is they lose out.  Which will make his three year record at PSU either 22-15 or 21-16.

Remind me again why people think he belongs in the great coaches conversation?  I just dont see it.

The blocked punt was AWFUl.

There was NO ONE to the left of the formation. O'Neill could've run for 50. They overloaded his right side and he rolled right into it.

He's got to kick it straight on or take the free yards to the left.

Hard to do that when it's 5 guys versus 3 blockers...just like the pointed out in the telecast.

It was never going to be blocked.

Kick it straight on or just run left where you can seriously pick up 30 before anyone is near you.

Peppers misses a QB arm punt and doesn't locate the ball for an EASY INT...and then he loses the WR for the TD.

He's got to work on finding the ball in the air.

He should spend all bowl practice defending passes over 25 yards and catching passes over 25 yards.

Go work with Lewis and Darboh.

He's got to improve on his ball skills when the game is outside of the box.

Another example is the drive before...he runs a wheel route on offense and never turns his head. He runs straight out of bounds as he's going up the sideline. He's got to flip the hips and the head around and break off his route (which was covered).

The drive for points just before half was huge and Darboh's catch to keep the drive alive was a thing of beauty. I love watching the way this team plays and how the coaching staff puts them in positions to win all game. Recruits should be kicking down the door to play for this staff.

It is so much nicer to watch the plays isolated from commercial breaks. Two things stand out already: M Offense: Imagination in play calls. Relying on the pass so much is a bit nerve wracking, but it worked. M Defense: The pressure on Hackenburg. I really want PSU to beat MSU next week, but if State applies the same defensive front pressure that we did on this one, it will be rough.

You have the time in between plays where guys need to catch their breaths cause they're not superman out there, that takes up a huge amount of time.

You have halftime which is about 20 minutes from bell to bell.

You have the sorting out of penalties and replays and also the commercial time so programs make all that money.

Besides, often I need the time to catch my breath and sanity after so many plays that impact my life way more than it should.

But we can't do a maize out after October 15?

Are there really that many people in Happy Valley with white jackets?

I'm sure all these people just have t-shirts on over their jackets, no?

Hackenberg's very nice throw on 4th down to get them close to the goal line, then PSU goes backward and settles for 3. Definite swing in emotion. And another 3 with 9 minutes to go. After playing so many 4 down teams this year, this seemed so conservative.

Another phantom call...Harbaugh should add that to his reel and send it in.

Really, someone should upload these to social media. We have a hug fanbase, get some media attention around it. Just like WD did with the Brandon e-mail.

It won't be the same effect. But it will get some local/conference wide attention.

The targeting has been awful and some of these other calls are just made up. Block below the waist when he's hit in the shoulder?!

Glasgow not snapping the ball and taking the free play drives me CRAAAAAAZY!!!

He's done it one time this year and we scored a frickin touchdown. SNAP THE BALL!

It's been like this for 2 years now, he's awful at it.

I miss it so much because David Molk was the master. Take the free yards or the free play!

I don't want to rewatch that game. Yeah we won, but we played sloppy, and I might wreck my newly-cleaned apartment if I have to see those penalties again. It would also be paimful to watch a possibly-concussed Hackenberg try to think during crucial situations. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt he was even checked on the sidelines yesterday. Poor kid.
