BS Stars goal

I was at work till late tonight so i just now saw it but the goal in the Wings game today was complete bullshit. There is no angle that says the puck crossed the line COMPLETELY. What is the point of reviews if it hurts the sport in general. I think the NHL needs to really look at "goals" such as these to figure out what the hell they are doing. The Wings got screwed over today. However, i am still pissed that the Wings blew a two goal lead and were unable to put another behind Auld. By the way who in the hell is Auld?

Toronto made the decision that there was not enough evidence to overturn the call on the ice that it was a goal. It is the linesman that was furthest from the play that made the good goal call. So the Toronto decision was correct that there wasn't evidence to overturn it but the call on the ice was wrong. There isn't anything that the replay official can do to overturn that call. Still BS and it is heartbreaking. Especially since LA came back and won their game in OT. WTF Bruins!?!

It was called no goal on the ice. The blue line ref tried to call it a goal but was over ruled. Toronto said there was enough video evidence to overturn the goal. The only time you see the puck it's clearly on the line. Calls like these make me believe anytime there's a close call like that it's going to go the way of the home team or against the lions!

I'd love to hear an official explanation as to why the call of the far official was taken over that of the official who was practically on top of the net. That doesn't make sense to me. Is it even disputable that the ref on the net had the best view of the play?

Disagree with OP. I believe that the camera view from the front of the goal clearly showed the puck crossing the line. Negbang go.

Good thing that the Stars could never get a shady "benefit of the doubt" call on a really important goal, like a Stanley-Cup-clinching goal or something. Sincerely, Disgruntled Sabres Fan

I am not sure that it would have helped, Howard might have been in the way, but why didn't they show the camera inside the goal? That view typically is the best view.

Here is a good article in the Detroit News about the controversial goal: Chris McCosky - On further review NHL shoots itself in foot again costing Wings Personally, I think Red Wings are not too loved by the referees in NHL. It seem like every time is a controversial call or a bad judgment call it goes against them. I only watched the last period last night and beside the OT goal I have seen two more badly no calls, the tying goal was clearly interference plus a high stick on Cleary. Now I'm usually not complaining about the way they call the games but I thought the high stick is always a penalty and goalie interference the same or is only when Holmstrom is in the goalie's face? And what about Dallas Star? It seems they are always the beneficiary of those calls; remember the Holmstrom's disallowed goal against them in the playoffs 2 years ago, the B. May's one this season and the Stanley Cup Finals one against Buffalo. I always thought hockey is a hard game to call but this is getting ridiculous.
