Brian Kelly backtracks: "This is a great and historic rivalry that we'll be playing this Saturday"
Okay Brian,
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- As Brian Kelly moved ahead Tuesday, he backtracked just for one moment on the appraisal of the Notre Dame-Michigan football series.
"This is a great and historic rivalry that we'll be playing this Saturday," Kelly said during his weekly news conference. "So let's get that out of the way right away, so we don't have to answer any more questions about this rivalry. We're excited about the game, we're excited about playing it.

This one needs to go on the Gameday Sign Ideas thread!

I have no idea what this means, nor do I expect 99% of the ESPN audience has any idea. Looks cool though.

Used in electronics (like a computer) to be either "on" or "off"... aka "1" or "0". Basically how the computer actually speaks binary.

I second this notion...

Just to reiterate what you have already said, as it can't be repeated too many times:

at ease boys... apparently you're not aware of the Dana Jacobson incident a few years back?

Do we know that dropping the series was Kelly's call? Or is he just trying to be diplomatic and make his bosses look good?
September 3rd, 2013 at 1:05 PM ^
...the latter.
September 3rd, 2013 at 1:06 PM ^
the AD should be the final say, but Kelly here is talking like he has a say on it. I like how he also treats his games with MSU and Purdue as committments yet Michigan is not. Whatever, lets hope the players make Kelly purple faced on national TV this weekend. Beat Ohio.

From what I've heard, Kelly and Hoke actually have great respect for one another.

"NO GET OFF ME"

These pictures need to be combined to make an awesome gameday sign. The colors match too perfectly to ignore.
September 3rd, 2013 at 1:32 PM ^
I think they do have a great respect for each other.
Kelly is still pissed that he was completely passed overed and not even offered an interview for the Michigan job after Lloyd retired. That's all this whole thing is about.

Fuck BK. I dont mean Burger King either.
September 3rd, 2013 at 1:12 PM ^
In boot camp the drill instructors always told us this wasn't the BFK, which meant we could not have it our way...I have never FBK'd though.

I love that he tried to big-time us the way we do to MSU and it blew up in his face.

keep talking Kelly, it will make it all that much sweeter when Devin and company beat that ass!!!!

My personal list of teams I like to watch on TV just so I can root like Hell for them to lose:
1. Notre Dame
2. Penn State
3. Michigan State
4. USC
5. Florida - Miam - Florida State (tie)
8. Texas
9. Ohio State
10. Any SEC team playing out of conference
September 3rd, 2013 at 1:35 PM ^
1) ND
2) USC
3) Any SEC team playing OOC
4) OSU
That's about it. I enjoy OSU's losses the most, but realize that if somebody else beats them first, it makes our victory seem inferrior.

This would be a good thread. My list is substantially different:
1. Ohio State
T(2). MSU/Notre Dame
3. Oregon
4. Arizona
5. Washington State
6. Oklahoma
7. SEC + Florida St
8. Anyone who has beaten Michigan recently
September 3rd, 2013 at 1:50 PM ^
I've always quite liked watching Oregon play.
By "always" I mean since about 2011 or so, it took a few years for me to move past 2003 and 2007.
September 3rd, 2013 at 2:19 PM ^
Yeah, my disdain for Oregon has very little to do with their performances against Michigan. Whether or not it is justified, I perceive them as a dirty program and one that has done everything they could to skirt NCAA enforcement - to me they are slimier than the SEC. I also really hate that they have what seems to be an unjust advantage by being tied so closely with Phil Knight and Nike.

I'll root against Mike Leach wherever he goes, even if he is coaching a snackycake. I can't stand the guy, he's an arrogant asshat. The only time I ever can say I remotely liked him was with how he handled the Craig James fiasco.

The guys you mentioned are arrogant, and I don't like them either, but I put Leach right there with them.
September 3rd, 2013 at 4:58 PM ^
Leach should have locked up Craig James in that room with his son.......and fed him wormdirt for his transgressions.

I root against PSU because of the Sandusky thing. So they're at the top of my shitlist.
