Brian Griese & Steve Levy to call the OB
They have called 4 Michigan games this season. Michigan is 4-0 when they're there.
- W 51-14 vs UCF
- W 49-10 vs PSU
- W 14-7 vs Wisconsin
- W 59-3 vs Maryland

make me cringe. How are they the Big10 champs....

Satan is laughing his ass off somewhere
December 6th, 2016 at 8:33 PM ^
Amazing how the 3rd best team in the division is B1G champion, and how is this ass-wipe probably going to win coach of the year....
BTW, FUCK penn state and all their delusional joepa loving fans!!!
December 6th, 2016 at 8:51 PM ^
Brady hoke won coach of the year. Who cares ?
December 6th, 2016 at 9:51 PM ^
Good point, hopefully the same fate befalls him.
December 6th, 2016 at 8:50 PM ^
- Game tying FG at home to Minnesota to send the game to OT.
- Bizarro Urban Meyer decided to make terrible coaching decisions to cost OSU the game.
- @ Purdue was one of their crossover games.
- Iowa @PSU was another.
- Indiana blew a 4th quarter lead at home.
- Sparty remembered who they were at halftime of a game they were leading.
This was one of the luckiest teams in CFB. Outside of us, their toughest games were at home. Purdue, Indiana and Rutgers are not the type of environments where you have to pump rawk music onto the practice field to get ready.
Oh, and WTF??? Now beating Temple is somehow a better win than over Colorado because Temple won their conference.
December 6th, 2016 at 9:02 PM ^
in the Rose Bowl.
And that Franklin again elects to kicks a meaningless field goal late in the game when down by too many touchdowns.
December 6th, 2016 at 9:39 PM ^
"Sparty remembered who they were" is a brilliant turn of phrase. A quibble, but maybe better put as "Sparty remembered who they are.
Regardless, great breakdown of how JoePalogist U became B1G campions.

2016 B1G Football Tournament Champs.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:35 PM ^
They suck as a team.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:40 PM ^
Levy is not great on play-by-play. Either he doesn't do his homework or is just not meant for it.
McShay is not bad on the sideline though.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:41 PM ^
Personally, I'd rather Brad Nessler, but he liked SEC football more.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:44 PM ^
Lewis's INT against Wisconsin was one of the worst calls of a magnificient play I've ever heard.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:42 PM ^
strongly disagree. I cringed when I saw Levy in this spot, but I think he pulled it off. He is certainly not the lead of an A crew, but I think he was very solid on the "three deep" for big games. I thought they did quite well actually.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:36 PM ^
You know tv announcers have zero correlation to wins and losses, right?
December 6th, 2016 at 7:53 PM ^
10-0 this year when anyone but Fowler & Fanboy are calling the game.
Blame them.
I propose a lifetime ban from calling a Michigan game.
December 6th, 2016 at 8:58 PM ^
I wonder if there's a reason for that. Maybe that Fowler and Herbstreit call the "best game" ESPN broadcasts every week, and those games generally are competitive between two high quality teams?
December 6th, 2016 at 8:42 PM ^
He doesn't know. He's that dumb.
December 7th, 2016 at 1:11 PM ^
Everyone knows that Correlation always means causations.
Here is one we can all agree on
December 6th, 2016 at 7:40 PM ^
Someone tell Brian to stop trying so hard to not sound like a homer that he ends up sounding like a dumbass.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:42 PM ^
Well he's more a jackass, but I assume the sentiment is the same.
December 6th, 2016 at 8:20 PM ^
I'll give him a call.
December 7th, 2016 at 7:27 AM ^
I've thought that way this year as well. It sounds like he's trying too hard not to sound biased.
If that's wrong, then something screwy must have happened between him and the university to make him bitter. I don't know what that might be, though.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:40 PM ^
Steve Levy is so odd calling games. It's like he is still doing a sportscenter show or something.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:44 PM ^
was like that in the opener but he was serviceable by mid-season.
December 6th, 2016 at 7:43 PM ^
I like Wilton Speight but if Brian Griese from 1997 was our QB this year....we don't lose a game
December 6th, 2016 at 8:55 PM ^
So if a 5th year senior who had starting experience and the luxury of playing behind one of the best lines in Michigan history were starting instead of a 3rd year sophomore, we would have done better? Hot take
December 7th, 2016 at 7:35 AM ^
If NFL Tom Brady was our QB this year...we don't lose a game.

Steve Levy is not good at announcing. This game deserves better.

Sadly, ESPN doesn't have better.
December 6th, 2016 at 8:19 PM ^
The only thing that I really remember Levy being pretty decent at was hockey commentary, and as I recall, he was on the crew for some of the longest playoff games ever played in the NHL. Having him do football at all is really kind of strange, and I am not at all shocked that continually sounds unenthused.
December 6th, 2016 at 9:09 PM ^
Levy did this year's World Cup of Hockey and did do Hockey announcing previously. He was tolerable at that. My issue with Levy is he doesn't seem knowledgeable about football and makes very strange comments that equate him to being a football newbie.
During the Wisconsin game he loved using the phrase "Speight hooks up with Butt". Listen, maybe I'm immature, but that gets a giggle and grown, like you knew one of the players has the last name of Butt, couldn't you at least prepare yourself to be careful about it?

I miss Keith Jackson.

I'd upvote this a million times if I could.
Whoaaa Nellie!
December 6th, 2016 at 7:45 PM ^
Good news, afaic. Brian was a bit too negative about us in the Wiscy game, imo, but is usually good.
If he mentions the fact that Michigan is playing yet another bowl game that is an away game and, in over a century, has played in zero home bowl games, he will be my new favorite announcer.
December 7th, 2016 at 11:18 AM ^
he was fucking awful ... "Michigan got away with a hold on that one ...." He made me sick - had to turn off the sound. I was forced to watch on TV as I was at a wedding in Colorado.
Go Blue!
December 7th, 2016 at 12:47 PM ^
i think sometimes he goes overboard so he can't be accused of being a homer...
December 6th, 2016 at 7:49 PM ^
I think they're just fine.

I'm not huge in griese so I don't care one way or there other with him. But I do think Steve levy is pretty awful as a play by play guy
December 6th, 2016 at 8:25 PM ^
Levy is definitely awful

Levy consistently fails in his attempts at humor. he reminds me of a douche fratboy that never grew up.
December 6th, 2016 at 8:05 PM ^
People are so stupid on here about announcers.

Levy and Griese are tolerable. There are so many bad announcing crews out there, I am thankful it is Levy and Griese.
December 6th, 2016 at 8:35 PM ^
every single fox crew for the NFL outside of Buck and Aikman?
December 6th, 2016 at 8:52 PM ^
I personally think Buck and Aikman are terrible!
