I see the Jim Harbaugh for coach came up.......would the fact he has a drinking problem come into play if he were to come to Michigan, more so than any comments he has made?

or are you basing that solely on his DUI in 2005. A fair criticism for sure, but not conclusive evidence he has a drinking problem. I grew up in A2 and have known him 30+ years and worked for the football team while he was playing at M. While not close to him, i am good friends with one of his best childhood friends. He is acutely aware of this concern and his representation as a public figure and an ambassador of Stanford University. He rarely if ever drinks at Stanford events, including fundraisers with big wigs that are definitely drinking. I have never seen him drink at those events that I attended (i live in NorCal now). The last two times I spent some significant time with him was at a Miami Superbowl pregame event right after he became Stanford's coach. He was with his fiance and Sean Salisbury and he wasn't drinking (Sean sure as hell was....). And before that at his previously mentioned childhood friend's house in Ann Arbor after Bo's funeral ceremony. If ever there was a time to have a drink, it was then. There were 8 of us there and he was the only one not drinking. I think he has a handle on where his priorities lie and seriously doubt he has a drinking problem. I am sure this issue would be vetted in detail if he were to become an HC candidate at any football power. As Brian said tonight on the broadcast, and I wholeheartedly agree, if Coach Rod does not right the ship next season, Harbaugh will be one of the first candidates M contacts. But I sure as hell hope it doesn't come to that....

on that broadcast....you got to talk with a bunch of the uneducated masses about how nothing has changed, the cupboard is full and there should be no drop off in on field performance with walkon and true freshman qb's starting in back to back seasons and 11 first time freshman, redshirt frosh or soph starters on the current team.....incredible....

After Harbaugh impugned the academic integrity of the football program under Bo, I'd find it hard to believe that UM would just blithely ignore that smear and try to hire him. All coaches who come here will have to genuflect to the memory and accomplishments of Schembechler, and Harbaugh threw Bo under the bus with his comments, which was very convenient since he did it after Bo was dead and couldn't defend himself.

Can someone link this? I'm about to do homework and it'd be nice to have some THE SKY IS FALLING / No it's not / talk in the background, for, you know, entertainment's sake.

For the story about putting up the sign "No candy this year kiddies, Michigan Football killed Halloween". My wife cracked up in the car. Besides being the 1st good laugh we've had listening to the radio about M football, I think it remindered her of going out with our friend and her kids to go trick or treating, and her mild surprise she didn't come home to find dead kids on our lawn.
