Braylon and the Beard - Article in the NY Times

Submitted by Michigasling on

About Braylon at the Jets vs. his miserable time in Cleveland. Quoting Braylon's mother: "She saw in her son this off-season something that had vanished — a level of happiness last evident in his senior year at Michigan." And using his beard as metaphor of his growth. Or something like that.

What's the point of saying that shit about Cleveland?  What's the difference between Cleveland and Detroit?  Nothing, and Braylon would never say that shit about Detroit.  As much as it pains me to say this, because Braylon is one of my all time favorite Wolverines, he is bush league, classless and he couldn't be more unprofessional.  You're 27 Braylon, be a pro, you're not even in Cleveland anymore, why can't you just say, "Things didn't work out there."  End of story, instead of you have to act like a child.  Braylon, you couldn't catch consistently, it doesn't matter who the coaches or quarterbacks were, the ball hit your hands and hit the ground, and you continue to put it on everyone else except yourself.  Be a pro, be a man, get over it.  And my god, his mom chimes in as if Braylon battled through cancer while he was in Cleveland, he made millions of dollars for christ's sake!  Mrs. Edwards, go visit a military hospital, stand in front of the wounded vets and complain about how you're millionaire son dropped so many balls that his fans started to boo a little bit, and you guys just wouldn't understand what he's been through, tell them how Cleveland is worse than Fallujah and Kabul combined.

What's the difference between Cleveland and Detroit?  Nothing,

There is one key distinction: Cleveland is full of Buckeyes, while Detroiters predominantly root for U-M.  That alone makes Detroit  more liveable.

(In all seriousness, I read somewhere that Braylon had to take down the M flag flying outside his Cleveland home, because his house was continually vandalized.  Which is just pitiful.  If true, can you blame him for any hard feelings?)

As a Browns and Michigan fan I witnessed it firsthand.  Braylon didn't have a chance here, everyone hated him from the start and it was bullshit.  My point is even if he has hard feelings, be a professional, there's no point in spewing this crap, it doesn't gain him anything.
