Brandon Justice on WR Oliver Martin: "Martin heavy in the rotation"

Submitted by SkyPanther on

Brandon Justice, of The Wolverine Lounge, expects WR Oliver Martin to have significant playing time at the slot receiver this year. He expects Grant Perry to start there.

Following the Eddie McDoom news TWL reported, the battle for the slot is between G. Perry and O. Martin. Both have strong hands; Perry, a senior, has far more experience; Martin, a RS FR, has a higher ceiling/bigger frame. Expect Perry to start w/ Martin heavy in the rotation.

Oliver Martin is a tad taller, and a tad heavier, than Perry. Perry, 6'0", 195, Martin, 6'1", 200. And we saw last year Oliver Martin can make a circus catch. He has focus:

It’s really going to be fun. Black, DPJ, Perry, Martin, and Collins and mix in McKeon, Gentry, and Eubanks along with Shea that can drop the ball in on a dime. It’s been a while!

I was not pleased with the MSU schedule issue thanks to dumb ass Brandon. However, I think Michigan actually benefits long term. Yes MSU is a rivalry game and those are always hard, but with OSU, MSU, and Penn State all in the East, there are going to be two home games and two road games every other year no matter what against the three other toughest teams in the East. As history hopefully returns to normal, I would prefer to have OSU and Penn State split vs. OSU and MSU split.

Also of note: Donovan Peoples-Jones and Tarik Black are expected to start at the wideout position, with Nico Collins getting playing time. Both Karan Higdon and Chris Evans will see significant snaps. Expect Ben Bredeson to start and left guard, flanking Cesar Ruiz.

Also, Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich will start at the respective DE positions, and Lavert Hill and David Long look like they'll be good at CB this year.

Did I miss anything?

I mean, yeah, McDoom left because he had been beaten out. Martin might be really good; he's still probably getting on the field for just 10 snaps a game or so. Perry is already proven to be quite good, and the guy who will probably spend more time in the "slot" than anyone else will be... TE Zach Gentry.

I should add this about Brandon Justice. He has really gotten to know some people inside Schembechler Hall. He is a good follow right now.
