No doubt that it's great to be in a bowl and we are (hopefully) past those dark days, but I would say that the benchmark for this current team/regime and should be higher than "just getting to a bowl". At 6 wins and being favored in all games minus OSU, we should hope for a Jan 1 bowl or bust!

I'd really like to see us play Houston or a passing spread with a shitty defense. Why? I have no idea.

Baylor would probably score 40 points on Michigan at a minimum. Would Michigan muster enough offense to score 41? No.

Baylor would likely to put up 50-60 points on any defense because of their offensive alignment. I would be surprised if Durkin chose to do press coverage because the DBs are on an island all by themselves plus the safeties would have to cover the slot WR by themselves as well. If the DB lose the battle at the press, it's an easy TD for Baylor.

I don't see it...Baylor hasn't faced a Defense like this and they would be playing with a freshman QB. The only time a high powered offense from the Big 12 faced up against a defense somewhat equal to ours is when TCU played Minnesota. If I recall correctly that was a closely contested game and neither team scored 30 points. Smart coaches know the best way to beat the high-scoring offenses is to keep them on the sidelines, Harbaugh wouldn't get in a shootout with Baylor

Baylor destroy every good defense they faced in the last few years. WVU actually has a couple of good CBs who are NFL prospects and they get destroyed by Corey Coleman and KD Cannon.

Baylor offense put so much pressure on defense just base on alignment and formation.

Teams have tried to keep them on the sideline, but the problem is Baylor scores 21 points before you know it and you're already behind the 8 ball.  It put pressure on the opposing offense to try to match them point for point. If it's that easy, they would've done it yet they can't do it

I, too, had this desire to see our vaunted D go up against a pass-happy spread offense. Then I watched the Minnesota Golden freaking Gophers run all over the field for 144 yards rushing, and immediately lost that desire. Honestly, we need much better play out of the linebackers if we are going to be competitive against those high-scoring pass offenses who have a true dual-threat QB who can pull it down and run effectively. Not sure if the back 7 just came out flat off the bye or what, but somehow Minny made them look average. Add in our offensive woes and lack of production on that side of the ball, and I want to stay far away from the likes of Baylor, Houston, OK State, etc.

If we are not in the playoff then I'm not really picky on what bowl we go to. I will be there regardless. I just want the additional 15 practices.

Cumong man. The Cotton Bowl is and has always been a major bowl.

The Fiesta was originally designed as the bowl game for the WAC champion to play in.

The Cotton Bowl has a much longer history.

The Cotton was big for a long time, when the Southwest Conference existed.  But then when the SWC folded, it went down to a Citrus-level bowl for awhile, where the Big 12's #2 team was playing there IIRC.  It's now gone back to being considered in the upper tier.

I agree with Olaf - the value of getting those practices (essentially a second spring practice) is a bigger deal in the long run than all the other perks.  There are so many bowls that you don't reap major benefits from going to them anymore, unless it's a really prestigious bowl.  The money doesn't matter because it's shared with the conference anyway.  Recruitingwise, eh,  - Harbaugh will get his guys.  But giving him the chance to work with our team for 15 more practices, that's a very big deal.  I think he can get more out of his players than any other coach, so giving him another month to coach them is huge.

you're saying it's a really good thing Michigan had them practices last year otherwise they wouldn't be doing very good this year? Wait ... I'm really confused. The Baugh sees this and is thinking to himself of Lee Corso and yells at the computer, "Not so fast Pcar1178". However, I like this coaching staffs potential with these kids with that many days before a bowl game. Who's got it better? I cant say than us because I'm from ... well ... you know.

after the 2007 season and Jan 1st, 2008 Bowl Season, we were like almost 10 pt underdogs and if it wasn't for 2 Mike Hart fumbles inside the 5 yd line we would hve beaten them by 3 TD's, not just 1 TD.

That was a Florida squad that had won 'Ships the year before and the year after so I'm thinking they had some damn good talent that year.

So have more confidence especially when we have Harbaugh and staff coaching them.

One more thing to add, if Rudock is hurt enough where he really shouldn't be playing, then maybe Speight can gain even more confidence and prove to be a very good QB, he looks way more athletic and has a way better arm than JR, maybe now he has the confidence he needed after the Minny game and we become a much tougher offense to deal with.

Personally I am hoping for something we won't be in often, like the Peach Bowl in Atlanta.  The Citrus Bowl is very "meh" to me.  Also, of course, something better ... if we happen to play that way.

Though I supose a NY6 bowl is more prestigious.

I'm tired of the Outback and Citrus Bowl. If we can't get to the Rose Bowl, I prefer we play in a game that we have never played before (like the Peach or Cotton Bowl).

would be a good test. I'd like to see that game. Hopefully it's a New Years game! I would rather have Nkemdiche (sp?) vs our OL than have Hargreaves roaming around, watching Rudock stare down receivers.
