Bowl Game

What’s your thoughts on  the over under on players going pro not playing in whatever bowl game M goes to?   After Jake Butt it would not shock me to see at least a couple. Thoughts?

If I am not mistaken, there was a fair amount of rumbling about the Big Ten East runner-up going to the Rose Bowl, but I could be imagining this and of course, there is a committee which has to make a weird and uncomfortable decision about this very thing in the coming weeks.

We had a very good season. Dominated three established programs coming off 10 win seasons. Very deserving of going to the Rose Bowl if that happens.

These players accomplished a lot this year. Want them to get the best possible experienvce in the postseason. For them.

I wouldn't want them to play for many of the downright spoiled and whiny fans seen on here tonight.

Fuckers don't deserve to claim the efforts of these players or the fruits of those efforts after a win.

Dominating teams coming off 10 wins season means zero.  Wisconsin and MSU were terrible this season.  Minnesota just dominated Wisconsin.  Neither are quality wins other than the fact beating our rivals was sweet in one of them.  Penn State was a semi quality win and sure was a beat down.

We played 2 very good teams this season, only 2, we went 0-2 in those games, both of which were riivalry games.

I believe there is precedent for the Rose Bowl to take whoever they want from the Big Ten if the champion goes to the playoff, not necessarily the championship game runner up. But I am not going to take the time to actually look it up because I know I'll be wrong and get even more depressed. So take my word for it, we're going to the Rose Bowl, yeah!

Osu will get in & we will get to here how Meyer has overcome so much...

Thanks to the Maryland QB who couldn't complete a 5 yard pass to win it.

Shea - I get that he wants to beat next years class to the pros, but its hard for me to believe he's good enough now.

Our top two corners - at least one of Long and Avery go.

Bush - gone if his draft stock stays in top 10.

Gary - Gone period.

So, pondering this thread. I don’t think anyone is ready for NFL. When has Gary truly dominated a game. When has any Michigan player dominate (took over game).  With that being said Patterson is not ready. His arm strength is not up to par. Hill,Levert, and Gary were not good against OSU.  Remember OSU players go to NFL.

Our best players were not are best players against OSU.

The main question concerns whether guys whose draft stock is undeniably high and are virtually first round picks would or even should  play in the bowl game (as Christian McCafferey) But you do raise a big question whether or not some of them should rethink there readiness in the first place.  Unfortunately the coaching hardly put these guys in their best position to shine today.

I'm sure they will mail it in again like they have just about every big game under Harbaugh. Mental midgets

4 coaches?  Harbaugh, Hoke, Rodriguez, Carr.

Were you even alive in the Schembechler era?  He would win the B1G every year, then lose to USC in the Rose Bowl.  This is similar to Harbaugh who beats the teams he should beat, but loses to the really good teams in the big games.  For better or worse, that's how Michigan has been during my lifetime.  1997 was delicious exception.

Yeah, I think people have romanticized the Bo era quite a bit. Even then two things that are true today were true:

1. In the early stages of the Ten Year War period, OSU had a high ceiling than us and would win nattys when they beat us.

2. Even when we were better than OSU, we weren't really heavily factoring into the national championship picture (and neither were they).

Patterson could come back and have everyone on offense back except Higdon.  If Charbonnet lives up to the hype and Evans can get a single block in his life the offense will be lethal.  Oh, and if Harbaugh fires Pep, and himself as OC.  Anyway the point is the passing game could be incredible if we'd pass it more.

Gary and Bush are gone. Hill, Long and Hudson all made cases that they need to come back after today, but if they left I wouldn’t blame them. Gotta take care of themselves.

I thought he was the best defender on the team last year.  I've wondered if he bulked up a little too much and lost some of his speed and acceleration that made him such an effective defender last year.  Then again, he really made his name against Minnesota, so could just be another case of a U-M player padding their stats against meaningless competition.

Yeah, he was way overrated last year thanks to racking up stats against Minnesota.  I don't remember him making a single good play this entire year.  OTOH, I don't remember him dorfing anything either?

Seemed like most of the bad plays on defense this year were made by Watson, Gil, the DTs and the occasional Kinnel missed tackle.  And half of the bad plays came today.

I think 2-3 guys won't play, though I honestly don't have a guess.  I wouldn't blame any of them.  I do expect Michigan to get a nice bowl, which might entice a couple of guys to give it a go on national tv.  My guess is a number of defenders may not want their last college memory being run off the field.

After the way the “pro-bound” players played today, I’d be much more interested in seeing the next generation. They’ll be mostly checked out and protective of themselves if they do play in a meaningless bowl game anyway, so let the young, hungry players get some time

Don't see how Patterson is anywhere close to being NFL after his perf today.

Don't see any of them ready tbh.
