Bob Griese on Chad Henne's "decision"

Submitted by jwfsouthpaw on
Bob Griese on why Mark Sanchez should stay at USC for another season (paraphrasing): "Chad Henne came out last year thinking that he would start, and he's a backup right now." Except that Chad Henne was a four-year starter with no eligibility left. Kinda makes sense that he would enter the draft, no? Brilliant logic there, Bob.

i think it was great for Chad to get some quality back-up time behind the other Chad. flacco and ryan are the outliers, it's rare for rookie qb's to be so good.

That's amazingly bad since (a) Griese (I thought) followed Michigan football pretty closely, if only because of his son and (b) Henne not only played for four years, but STARTED FOR FOUR YEARS.

On a serious note, if I'm Mark Sanchez I'm definitely gone. Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, and Colt McCoy will all be in next years draft. Why wait and hope someone likes you more than them. This year he's got Matt Stafford, and knowing the Lions they'll probably ruin everything and draft him.

Detroit needs an o-line that doesn't, oh I don't know, suck major genitalia. Oher or Andre Smith...take your pick (I'd prefer Oher), but dammit no WRs or QBs!!!!!

I think he's actually comparing Chad Henne potentially going to the draft his junior year. The fact that he chose to wait till after his senior year is supposedly why he's a back up. At least thats the argument bob g. is making. of course he's way off nevertheless.

I like the guy because he has family ties to our program, but honestly, Griese's a pretty crappy color analyst. He gets tongue-tied all the time and rarely offers any real insight.
