Is this all that exciting, not really, but it's July, I want to hear anything I can about Michigan Football, and if you're bored at work you might as well get your UM Football fix.
Note: I didn't think that this was only for insiders when I posted it, but when fixing the link I realized it's at insider.espn.com. In that case, follow Rittenberg and all the WolverineNation people on twitter to get your fix (also Joe Schad appears to be covering everything Penn State if you want to hear more about them). All that this ESPN link does is compile all the twitter feeds into one stream.
they used to stream audio. is that locked down thru BTN now?
Try ESPN 3. I'm watching on ESPN U.
I am using the BTN2GO app and it's working fine. At times the audio cuts out to buffer, but it's rare. Obviously it depends on your phone carrier and where you are.
Is any Mgobloger there today reporting? (By that I mean, Brian, Ace, Heiko)
I thought in a front page post the other day it was mentioned that Ace and Heiko were going to be there and will give us a report.
C/o: @nickbaumgardner
Terry Richardson a bit on the slight side -- 5-foot-9, 154 pounds
Amara Darboh comes in at 6-foot-2, and a whopping 218 pounds
Tight end A.J. Williams -- 6-foot-6, 282 pounds
Ondre Pipkins -- 6-foot-3, 337 pounds

Pizza House
Willie Henry 6'2" 302
Roh up to 278 c/o @kmeinke
Just saw a segment on espnu where Luginbill and Galloway predicted how Michigan will finish this season. They each predicted a loss to Bama, Michigan St, and they split on ND and OSU. They seem ti think Michigan will be in the B1G championship game, as do I.
Numbers of Tremendouses used by Hoke: over under 10.5
Hoke Points: over under 3.5
Hoke answers NOT starting with "Wahhlllll Ya know...": over under 1.5
Will first question to Kovacs allude to the fact he was a walk-on? Yes -500, No +500
Stutters and stumbles in question(s) by Drew Sharp: over under 5.5
Am I missing any?
Hoke says "this is Michigan for god sakes" over under 2.5
Tune into the twitterverse at 12:30 CT (that's 1:30 ET) to get your Brady Hoke news conference fix.
I was looking for his start time, but for some reason could not locate it.
Ace and/or Heiko should probably video record Denard's speech so that I can watch it over and over again.
Welp, it looks like Twitter is down. I guess I'll have to do work now. Thanks a lot, internet. Pfft.
Seems like Coach Beckman doesn't have an indoor voice. He just has coach voice. ALL THE TIME.
He says they weren't actively recruiting Penn State guys. They WERE at State College, just not at Penn State. They were at other establishments calling guys. I really have nothing to say about this. Seems skeevy.
I'm at home and watching the coaches on BTN. I'm going to start making random observations. I missed Bielema and Hope's turns but caught bits and pieces when they replayed highlights.
- Danny Hope should be the new Purdue mascot. Excellent mustache grooming. A major part of his gameplan for this season (not kidding): Stay healthy.
- They showed a clip of Bielema's conference. Why did Brett Beilema look like someone sprayed him with baby oil before he took the stage?
- Urban Meyer was boring. I enjoyed him acting like poaching players from Penn State was so immoral after flipping ALL PSU commits last year.
- The moderator is really awkward. Sp sp sp spit it out, lady.
- The press asks some really stupid questions, as expected. Hopefully Rittenberg asks another stupid one to Hoke.
There was a really awkward 30 seconds of silence after Hope finished his opening remarks and the moderator asked for any questions. No one had any. And then Hope pretty much admitted to sending out scholarships to anyone on Penn State who would listen.
Yeah, and Hope looks like he's a Madame Tussaud's wax sculpture of himself.
Other bits of tid:
- Beckman has some twang.
- First two questions to Kevin Wilson: Penn State-related hahahahaha
- Reporter: What did you do to fix your stinky defense? Kevin Wilson: Our offense sucks, too, don't forget that.
- BOB's story about his team watching Pats film was great. It was prompted by the only decent question from the reporters.
Meyer has never really showed too much excitement/passion for OSU, the guys is always so ho/hum and never looks to "into" his coaching position, has he always communicated like this?
But Ohio did just have the best offseason in the history of college football. Didn't you hear?
Oh, here goes Bill O'Brien. This ought to be interesting.
Bill O'Brien is looking like a pretty great choice right now.
Really fine addition to the BIg Ten. I think that he's going to be there for a while and make a big impact in rebuilding that program.
Good choice for Penn State. Old school. Balls of steel.
He is a getting a bit shirty with the reporters. Intertesting choice to go with.
So far I have been pretty impressed with Bielema and O'Brien. Brett seems like a cool dude and classy as hell. And it looks like Penn State got a good one in O'Brien, that guy has handled this whole situation pretty impressively. Hope, Boeckman and Meyer all came off as slime balls to me.
Bielema is many things but classy is not one of them. Sadly his nickname of "Meathead" is well earned. Actually he pretty much a douche.
Haha, I was just about to comment on the fact that this was probably the first time I've ever heard someone describe Bielema as "classy."
As was telling the fans, alumni, and former players that they needed to "get on board."
Penn State is probably going to change their uniforms. Huh. Too bad. I love the simplicity of their uniforms. But I understand them wanting to change their brand right now.
1. What does "getting shirty" mean from your previous comment?
2. Did O'Brien say something to the effect of PSU changing their uniforms?
Sorry, I can't follow media day myself, but am still trying to keep track of what's going on.
If they do, that is utterly brilliant. I like the classic look as well but they need to be radical in their "starting over" message.
O'Brien has an impressive public persona for a first-time head coach. No, I don't think he or 99 percent of coaches could succeed in his position now. But every once in a while when listening to him I kinda believe just maybe he can.
Why did Beckman issue a cordial declaration of war to Northwestern? If he wants to artificially inspire hate, he should have just spent the whole time bashing the school.
One word answers and the death glare at some questions he felt were stupid = shirty.
A reporter asked if they were changing their uniforms and he not only didn't deny it, he said that will have to wait for the season to see it.
Awesome, thanks!
I will never get tired of Brady Hoke talking but not answering questions.
His answer to the realignment question was great. Basically: 'Duh, of course the divisions are uneven. You know I can't say that. Next question.'
It almost felt like he didn't answer any one of the questions he was asked. Simply awesome! I'm going to try this tactic with my girlfriend.
See if you can start your non-answers with "wellllll" like Hoke does as well.
Well ya know......that question was tremendous.
Good luck with that. A whole pack of rabid reporters smelling blood is easier to deal with than one pissed off girl friend.
Reporter: How would you feel if you won your division and the 2nd place team went to a BCS bowl?
Brady Hoke: Probably not very good.
HAHAHA
OMG, that is priceless. I hope someone posts a transcript.
Will this same reporter ask Dantonio: If you finished second in your division, and you got a BCS bowl invitation over the first place team, would you turn it down?
I'm paraphrasing. His face and body language are even better.
More:
- I don't know who dresses most of these guys but they all borrowed ties from Bill Lumbergh.
- Bo Pelini, I'm not sure what's wrong with him - maybe he's sedated but he reminded me of good cop/dumb cop from Family Guy:
- Mark Dantonio is getting a serious frown on. I'd put his eyebrow muscles toe to toe with anyone in the country. FOOTBAWL IS SERIOUS.
