Big House and hand warmers?

Submitted by cargo on

I can't seem to find anything in the safety section, can i bring a Zippo hand warmer?   Wife is looking at the cold weather next week so a hand warmer could be nice.

You know the old air activated ones? That and super watery or so chocolately you'll shit a Hershey bar hot chocolate complete the gameday experience for me.

The hot chocolate is like a game for me, it's so hit or miss. Either it's hot water with a hint of chocolate...or warm chocolate syrup. My last gameday was OSU in '14, I swear I almost died of a sugar rush. There is no in between and I love it.

Haha - I've had this same issue this year! I've had the hot chocolate in a few stadiums this season and nothing tastes as good as the Tim Hortons hot chocolate at the Big House...when it's done right. Last year - it was great 100% of the time. This year, every other hot chocolate I've ordered has been great - the other times, all water, no chocolate. In fact, at the Rutgers game, I ordered 2 small hot chocolates - which I assumed were from the same batch as I ordered at the same time for me and my wife. Mine was almost all water... and my wife's was perfect! I didn't have the patience to take my back so we mixed and shared, but it just wasn't the same.

This is actually a big issue for me, and there are a few Tim Horton's around me - where I live, but it's just not the same as the ones at the game - in my mind anyway. I even tried Dunkin Donuts, and that wasn't even close.

total cost 4$.  Doesn't matter if you get the hand warmers or the toe warmers, put one in each shoe and one in each pocket to warm your hands as needed.

You're good for the whole game.  No one is leaving the OSU game early.

For people with Raynaud's, like me, the pain to the extremeties sets in quickly and is just exquisite in its totality.  Without a heat source, you can't stay outside for long.  In the winter I have difficulty getting through a trip to the grocery store dairy and frozen sections.

The inexpensive hand/foot warmers are a lifesaver for those November home games!

Layers, wear multiple layers. And that way you don't have to feel bony Jim's elbow or large Marge's super thigh rubbing on ya all game. It's going to be packed.

My brother had something like that for hunting. Pain in the ass to keep lit, but eventually lit his pants on fire. No joke. Burned the crotch right out of them while he was wearing them. I suggest the little air activated pouches.

I prepare for games in November like I'm going to be lost in Alaska for a week. Just buy the hand warmers that they sell everywhere at Dick's, Meijer, Walmart etc. Also get the toe warmers. My wife gets cold really easy so we take a blanket, double layer of socks, a few shirts under a hoodie, under a fleece, under a winter coat, wool hat and scarf. And then yes - top it off with some hot chocolate and you're good to go.

Also - if your tickets are on the bench - like most people - consider investing in a cushion.

I had a buddy who's wife went to Spencer's Gifts and got these tampon flasks. Filled a few of them up with the good stuff and that kept him warm. I promise nobody will fuck with those at security.

Funny that this question was raised on the board. I went to the Penn State game this past weekend with a hand warmer around my waist. Penn State security officials acted like they had never seen one before and had to communicate to their higher ups to confirm if they were allowed in the stadium. After I explained that it was just a hand warmer that had no pockets in it and they checked it theirselves, they allowed me to enter the stadium with it. The ridiculous part of this story is they made a huge ordeal about a hand warmer and completely forgot to do a pat down on me.

Did you have to wait in line to get in? We got to the gate just after 10:30AM thinking that it was going to be a long wait and it literally took 30 seconds. And as I mentioned during the week how the security staff only checked one of my pockets at the Indiana game - even after the guy told me that had to be very thorough... the same thing happened at Penn State! I got a slight pat down by what seemed to be a student - but they only checked one of my pockets! I don't get it. At least they checked your hand warmer. Maybe they were only doing thorough spot checks on random people?
