"Big 10 Refs are bad and they should feel bad" (Basketball Edition)

All I have to say has been said in the title.

Wow.

Sorry your potentially awesome game was painfully taken away from you, Ace. On behalf of the MGoBlog community, we hope you'll feel better soon.

Maybe if we actually used the word retarded to describe a mentally ill person I would care, but nowadays people fling the word around right and left synonymously with stupid. So although it is not the most apt word to describe the situation it doesn't need to be pointed out and ridiculed.

And by the way I went through 9 years of school with a kid with Asperger's syndrome in a 20 person class and I continue to go out of my way to help him out so get off your high horse.

Wonder how he would feel about you saying all of this. What if he was reading this conversation right now?

Looks like there is an interesting knowledge/communication gap here, let me clarify: using that word synonmously with stupid is bad, just as it is bad to use that word to describe a mentally ill person, because it too slurs people who have that condition. Said another way, flinging that word around right and left synonymously with stupid is exactly the problem. I like that you're on board with not using that word as a stand in for all mental health issues; I hope you will join me in also not using it to describe conspiracy theories (I think that was the OPs point?) or anything else that has a negative connotation.

You clearly have some reading comp issues; I have stated at least 3 times that the word should not be used. I just think it's not a big deal compared to some of the other things that take place on the internet so it doesn't need a snarky response. Stop trying to twist my words.

“The word should not be used”

You’ve used it three times in this thread, and have argued with everyone who got angry at the first person for saying it, as if you were defending him.

“It’s not a big deal”

Then why are you against us not wanting it to be used? You are arguing for the sake of arguing. Stop, please.

I never used it in a negative connotation; every time was to say that it is not an appropriate word to say. Honestly originally I was just pissed about the Purdue game but your attitude started to bug me. Plus the condescension you used is really annoying , so I am arguing because I don't want to let you just walk away when you are really just a 17 year old who thinks you know everything.

I care, and I think it matters. I don’t personally get offended when people use it carelessly, because I understand that sometimes you just don’t think about who you might he offending, or demeaning. A lot of us grew up thinking it was ok/funny. When I was a kid it was similarly common to casually call someone a fag. But to defend it, rather than apologize for it, and attack someone who is understandably offended suggests (to me, at least) that you are a fucking asshole.

The issue is replay and when to use it. When there is a loose ball and two players are going for it, replay is awesome. When the ball is poked from behind like it was, replay didnt need to be used. It sucked the life out of a great game and added insult to injury to a Michigan team that got a road whistle all night long, at home.

No excuse for this other than the refs wanted Michigan to lose. A ten minute replay is not indisputable evidence unless you want the team to lose. Fuck the B1G

Dilly Dilly! If we drank everytime a ref or Big Ten screws Michigan we'd be drunker than the Irish. Refs and B1G screw us any chance they get. Like we aren't paranoid: it only happens to Michigan, no one else. The football gods curse us, and the Big Ten likes to screw us ontop of that. Can't catch a break, aside from basketball with Beilein.
