Bert blows a 24 point lead

On the way to the locker room: "we're going to play four quarters, I guarantee it." Virginia Tech then proceeded to score 35 straight for a 35-24 win. Always great to watch that guy struggle-25 wins and 26 losses in four seasons. Good thing he always wanted to be an SEC coach.

I don't understand all the Bert hate. That guy has provided me tons of laughter over the years, granted it's always at his expense.

I was looking forward to playing Arkansas just for the ridiculous sound bites from him and Harbaugh.

Just referring to this gem from Harbaugh... After we take some pictures, we start talking, just the two of us," Beamer said. "Jim says over and over how much respect he has for Georgia Tech. He must have said it five times. I'm just looking at him like, 'Are you serious?' Finally, I'm joking with him and I say I can't wait to tell my team that you called us Georgia Tech. Because, you know, we're Virginia Tech." As described by sports writer Lars Anderson, Harbaugh's jaw dropped agape. Then he mustered a response that only Harbaugh could. "Well," Harbaugh reportedly said. "I can't wait to tell my players that you said you were going to play Samford, not Stanford!"

He doesn't recruit well enough to run the system he runs and win consistently against top teams. Alabama, Michigan, and USC can run more pro-style stuff because they get 15-20 4/5 stars per year. Arkansas just isn't on that level.

SEC is anemic 1-4 so far.  Meanwhile, the ACC is 5-1.  As I count the bowl results to date (at time of this writing, OSU(NTOSU) is winning big over CU,  so assuming no VaTech-like comeback I'm projecting that result):

Independents (2-0)
ACC (5-1)
BigXII (3-1)
Conf USA (4-3)
Sun Belt (3-2)
Mountain West (3-3)
B1G (2-2)
AAC (2-5)
Pac12 (1-2)
SEC (1-4)
MAC (0-5) (ouch)

Part of the MAC being 0-5 is the same thing that happens to the BIG. Their best team gets moved up a bowl and everyone else is playing a higher level opponent then they would normally. This used to be part of why the BIG would get killed in bowl season during the BCS when that they almost always had 2 teams in BCS bowls based more on alumni travel base then actual team skill.
