Bennie Oosterbaan's other Alma Mater needs your help.

Submitted by Bosch on

This almost certainly deserves the OT tag..... but the title wouldn't have been as effective.

Bennie Oosterbaan graduated from Muskegon High.  Muskegon is involved in an online voting contest that will benefit the theater programs of the winning schools.  As I am a Muskegon alum and, more importantly, as my wife teaches art at Muskegon High, I'm soliciting the voting influence of the MGoBlog Community.

It is prudent to mention that Muskegon has enough votes to finish in the top 10 (they are #2 and voting ends tomorrow) and it is indicated that all schools in the top 10 get the same prize.  So, at this point, voting for Muskegon is apparently pointless.

Never the less, I would like to see Muskegon finish #1.  The school that is in first is a privileged L.A. high school where Muskegon is an underserved inner city school.  I think it weould be a great story for Muskegon to finish first in voting.  Therefore, I'm calling on you for your help.

If you prefer, consider this a challenge.  Muskegon is down approximately 500 points and the voting ends tomorrow.   Would the MGoBlog influence be enough?

This is a simple contest.  You click the link below and then you click the green circle with the check mark.   No sign up or registration required.  Two clicks.  Do it.  Ooosterbaan would want you to.

If it pisses you off so much, why take the time to comment twice, then check back here again to see if someone replied?

If you don't like it, just move on, or at least try to say something constructive instead of trying to be an asshole.

I had him for 20th Century German History. It was a lower division class I took my senior year as an easy (but interesting) A. Turns out a lot of stuff happened in Germany in the 20th century. The class was more work than I expected, but was awesome. Markovits had plenty of eccentricities (he loved to joke about East German glasses, for one), but he was a fancinating prof, absolutely.

And no, I will not "trust you" just because you live in Detroit.  You are dead wrong about Muskegon High School not being a high school in need.  Besides, just because Detroit schools are desperately in need does not mean that no other schools in the state can be in need.

So this guy wants a "great story" because his wife works at Muskegon high, and yet you are buying it as some legitimate effort to help out a high school in need?  Give me a break.

I know it isn't a big deal, and I voted too, but I have to take out my need to be a colossal asshole on someone.

The school that's in the lead right now is my old alma matter, and for God sakes do not let them win. That school is full of privileged assholes, and the kids are all a bunch of spoiled brats, as you can see by the worst car in the parking lot being a BMW. So for the love of God, help this OP win this bull shit

Not sure why some people are getting so uppity about this. Detroit doesn't have a monopoly on being underprivleged and Muskegon could use the help.

As an old theatre kid myself, I voted most enthusiastically, and the Oosterbaan connection makes it even more special somehow. Hopefully, they can win this - best of luck to MHS!

No disrespect to Muskegon and Jackson, but Glen Rice's alma mater is also in the mix. If one really wants to make a difference (and by 'one' I mean 'the MGoCommunity'), one should put one's efforts into propelling FNW into e money. Think of it as a way to thank the star of our last basketball national championshiip.

Have to admit though, I was voting for Reeths-Puffer if it was on that list. Then I saw it wasn't a state of Michigan thing, so I was okay voting for Muskegon.

Looks like the gap is closing.  300 votes or so behind.  Should be able to over take that school out west.  Like they say vote early and vote often.

but then I saw all those trolling posts from that asshole TheGhostofYost and decided I would. Just to spite him. GL, Muskegon High.

...or not to vote, that is the question.

You got mine.

EDIT: Looks like Muskeegon is only a couple hundred votes behind, so it's do-able.
