Beilein Channels Harbaugh's Sick Day Policy
Just a fun comment picked out of Nick's tweets - looks like both our coaches have the same personal expectations. I don't know John's policies on holidays or if he considers himself a pneumatic hammer.
Beilein says his personal expectation for himself is to never get sick. Michigan employs the weirdest two FB/BB coaches alive.

You're correct, he did speak of subs once and apparently it was crazy.

Just eat subs.
Crazy?

you work in the foodservice industry. Nothing makes me happier than my waiter having a runny nose.

Not weird at all. I don't get sick either - but then I am a boss.

During halftime on January 28, 2014:
"We had guys not catching the ball, but I've got some weird guys in there right now," Izzo said. "We went real small, and they go real big. When we were in foul trouble, we gotta do what we gotta do. We made it through. We survived. I think we're in better shape because at least now we're going to be able to play some regular guys the second half."

How is this unique? I don't know of any college coach who misses a day for being sick unless it's a serious illness. It's part of the job and not all that weird.

if that's Baumgardner's definition. In an age of mobile devices, laptops, desktop sharing, video conferencing, and the like, "sick days" is are pretty much a thing of the past in my day to day. Vacations, sadly, are largely an illusion as well. If I'm in cell tower range, I'm dead in the water. "Out of Office" reply doesn't keep my boss from calling me (or his boss from calling him). Doesn't keep my clients from calling or emailing. "Oh, are you on vacation? I'm sorry, but could you ...?"
And I get the same tales from my colleagues at other companies, so I sense I'm not alone in feeling this incursion.

I used to be this guy, and then I just decided that I had enough. When I do take a vacation, which I admit is rare, I don't answer emails and I turn off the phone. The wife and I went to Mexico recently for a week, left the cell phones locked in the safe and didn't turn on a computer for 8 days. It was glorious.

this but not without cost. When it comes to promotions, salary bumps, bonus time, and the like, it's pretty clear what's valued (at least in my group). And when the CEO of the company or group President says "we need XYZ by tomorrow, make it happen," the choice to turn the phone off isn't that simple, at least not in my particular case. That said, exit strategy is engaged.

At my office they care about our long term well-being so we have de-sanitation stations to build up our immune system to never get sick. A simple bowl at every juncture, filled with dirt, vomit, fecal matter.

People where I work tend to come in even when they're sick, and subsequently get everyone else sick. Fun times.

That's how I got strep 5x one year. Working in IT and someone comes to work, and doesn't warn me they have strep while I work on their computer...
I however would stay home... and VPN in..... and then come back in with large amounts of disinfectant and bomb the office upon my return.

Get your tonsils removed if you're getting strep that much. I used to get strep several times a year and since my tonsilectomy, not once.
