Beilein: Caris NOT cleared, tells reporters to "back off"

Submitted by MGoAndy on

Beilein on LeVert: "I want to be clear about something with Caris. Nothing is clear."

Beilein says LeVert will get out there when he's ready, "I need everybody to back off, stop projecting. Thank you."

Seriously, what the hell is going on? He was cleared, now he's not? How do we just know absolutely nothing about this injury?

Beilein gets paid millions of dollars to coach this team, and he needs to be accountable to the media when our star player is out for weeks with a mysterious injury.

Obviously from what it seems he tweaked his foot again from previous injury. On top of that he may have done something to his leg but the unpredictability of the length of time he's been out would explain the foot. I sure hope caris comes back soon maybe even tomorrow against Purdue because there's no question we need him back.

This is why I was confused when beilen said caris' return was up to him. He should have never have come out and Said caris was cleared if he didn't want to answer more questions about when he would return. By saying Caris was the decider of when he would return he opened him up to criticism for each game he sits out. Bad move by belein. He should have stuck to the "he'll return when he's ready" script

Is this hard?

I didn't use to mind seeing it but now it's like a headlight out on a car. Fix it.

"Beilein gets paid millions of dollars to coach this team, and he needs to be accountable to the media"

No coach should be "accountable to the media"

You're a moron

That we will ever see LeVert play for Michigan again. Maybe we'll still manage to squeak into the tournament, but once again we have to suffer through a season that is far less than it should have been.

Information vacuums will be filled with speculation, rumor, innuendo, and gossip. It doesn't matter whether the context is sports or politics or military affairs. Humans have an insatiable need to fill in the blanks, regardless of whether they fill them in with nonsensical codswallop or reality.

I agree that Beilein is not contractually or ethically bound to provide the media and the fans with hard information about an injury to a star player, but he's beyond naive if he thinks that his refusal to provide information will be passively accepted by those on the outside. That's not the way the world works.

And he's made the situation worse by the contradictory or confusing statements he's made.

"I want to be clear about something with Caris. Nothing is clear." is right up there with "I was aware, but not fully aware."
