BBrown: Michigan In Touch With Gaelin Elmore Again

Submitted by Brandon Brown on

Per Steve Lorenz, the Michigan coaches have re-reached out to 2014 TE/DE Gaelin Elmore who is currently committed to Minnesota as a tight end. I was able to catch up with Gaelin today to try and figure out what is going on.

Elmore said he was contacted by Chris Singletary today and they only talked for a few minutes. "It was mostly small talk. He asked about school and how I've been and that's about it." Elmore said that he was very surprised by the call because he hasn't heard from the Michigan coaching staff at all since the beginning of his recruitment.

I'm not sure exactly what the coaches are planning with Elmore but he was pretty clear with how he is currently feeling. "I'm not really interested in Michigan at this point. It'd just be interesting to see what they had to say."

Elmore told me that he was still very solid to Minnesota and at this point he's not planning to visit Michigan but he's open to listening to what they have to say.

I'm not sure if anything will come of this and I'd assume that the coaches are looking at Elmore as a defensive end after missing out on Da'Shawn Hand but even Gaelin himself wasn't sure.

If the coaches are trying to get in touch with some TE/DE type of guys we should go after a guy like Garrett Dickerson. He was a guy who really wanted to go to a school for the academics since he had us in his top 3 with standford and northwestern as the other two schools he was considering. As of now he is just down to the other two schools but I think we could get back in the picture pretty quickly if the coaches contacted him

in the Hand basket when, especially post UTL2 visit, it just felt like he was going to bama as for no reason other than a feeling, myself and many others have up on him weeks before he announced our even visited bama. Do you bank the scholarships or just toss them at whoever we had as 4th, 8th & 105th options if we missed on Hand?

Is there a big prospect at that school, for the following year, that theyre getting a headstart on, indirectly?  They did this with Lucien in California...offering him late for cb position knowing Lucien had no interest...only to get more exposure for the big recruit the next year ( I forgot his name).
