BBall Recruiting - ESPN updated 2019 rankings

Commits:

Jalen Wilson #68 - I projected him to continue to slide down the rankings and that is coming to fruition. That said, I think 68 is a bit low.

Offers:

Carton #28 - appropriate in my opinion. Explosive guard that reminds me a lot of Carsen Edwards. Great college player that isn't necessarily a pro based on size. Also needs to improve his jumpshot.

Watts #31 - a bit too high in my opinion

Girard #90 - a bit too high in my opinion

Targets:

McDaniels #4 - biggest jump of anyone in the class. Will end the 2019 cycle as the unanimous #1 overall prospect in the country in my opinion. Already #1 for me

Williamson #43 - appropriate in my opinion

Agbonpolo #61 - solid range, perhaps a bit too high

Timme #70 - solid range, perhaps a bit too low

Withers #95 - too low in my opinion

Wilson should be a great player for us.  He will probably be a player who improves every year and is at the all B1G level as a junior/ senior.  I would almost rather recruit a player like him who is likely to stay and improve for four years rather than a super elite athlete who stays for one year

I've not spoken to Carton in a few months, but from things I'm gathering Michigan makes up part of his functional top 3, but Duke is now entering the mix.

Jaden isn't even thinking about visits at this point, his recruitment is likely to a Spring decision. I think that bodes well for us assuming another successful year on the court.

wow... really surprised that McDaniels made that much of a jump? Possible number 1 overall?

that would be quite the coup for Beilein et al if they could land him

Sure would benefit the readers if the board could say who OP of the thread is.  Readers could see its a guy (assumption) like MattD and jump in to read.

Thanks for the update. I can not believe Rocket Watts is a Top 50 player.

I only saw him twice, and he certainly has a very good offensive game (with a lot of range) but he got outplayed by Brandon Wade in one of the games I saw (e.g., Wade made Watts look foolish more than once on D, plus Wade rallied his team to win while I didn't see that from Watts, as his team melted down a bit). Wade is a nice player (going to Duquesne) but basically a low 3-star, if that.

Interesting. I didn't see Battle in high school, but was certainly impressed by him as a college player (though he does seem more athletic that Watts, which is ironic given his "Rocket" nickname). It should be noted Battle was 130 in the country in HS, according to my quick googling.

I do agree about his shooting. He puts shot UP; he has no shame in his game.
