Baseball: ESPN/SEBaseball project Michigan in NCAA Tourney
I take nothing that ESPN says to mean anything when it comes to baseball, but on their College Baseball Blog, Jeremy Mills predicts Michigan to be the Big Ten auto-bid and gaining a 3-seed at the Fayetteville, AR regional.
Fayetteville RegionalFile this under "so crazy it might work." No one, and I mean no one, can adequately predict how our conference season will end, much less the tournament that will decided the single bid coming to the conference. This is just the first time I've seen Michigan in ANY bracket prediction. Beat the Buckeyes this weekend, and we may see a lot more of these.
- No. 3 Arkansas
- Kansas State
- Michigan
- Wichita State
Anytime Michigan and success are included in the same article is always a good thing!
Go Blue baseball!
This strikes me as a fine article indeed.
Man, that'd be a nice draw if we could get it. Would be better to get a non-seeded host but I don't see Arkansas as the third-best team in the country either.
D1Baseball.com's twitter feed(same as the ESPN writer making the original projection) points me to SEBaseball, who also has Michigan in the tourney as a 3 seed. Austin Regional, which, like, I'd be at.
Austin Regional Host: Texas {1}
- 1. Texas (Big XII Automatic) 34-7 #4
- 4. Southeast Missouri State (OVC Automatic) 25-14 #106
- 2. Alabama (SEC at large) 25-15 #17
- 3. Michigan (Big 10 Automatic) 25-14 #65
That would be instant death, possibly matching OSU's Georgia regional last season where they lose two games by over 22 runs each. I think we could take SEMSU, and maybe have a shot against Alabama, but beating #1 Texas? That'd be like 2007 all over again. I don't think we have that type of special team this year.

You can have CCU as a 1, and we'll no doubt get Clemson as a 2 (or 3 if they keeping gacking all over themselves...).
