B1G Championship Game Thread

We don't root for either team...who do you want to LOSE more?

MSU vs. Ohio, who wins? who loses? score?

TV Teddy and crew doing work....this is why these old bastards shouldn't be doing back to back to back games. They just aren't good enough to get up and down the court constantly and be in the correct positions to make calls. It has killed the college game.

Also, some day this perception that the big 10 is football on hardwood has to go away. You cant even get a decent game flow without a whistle every other possession.

I'm rooting for State today, only because I respect Izzo and the program he's built instead of the, "One and done" players that Matta gets and the overall sliminess that is the OSU program.

I think most people on here would agree that MSU-OSU are the two most talented teams in the B1G but that doesn't change the fact that it was a 3 way tie for the title.

No need to really get a cocky about enjoying, "big boy basketball." Michigan has a ways to go in terms of matching talent, but we still managed to win a shared title with a talent deficiency.

MSU's basketball history is not close overall to our football history.  They've done very well over the past dozen years, but before that they were just average (and usually worse than Michigan).  Indiana basketball is a closer analogy to Michigan football.

It's really annoying to watch that tall bald white bench player for MSU jump up and down like a monkey whenever MSU does anything, even if they just throw a shot up

None of those guys has been able to take over a game like Wood and Green.

Garry Harris, albeit highly regarded, is an unknown.  Trice is unproven and has had durability issues.  And Appling is inconsistent.  Payne and Nix are excellent in the low post but they're not giving you 30 points a game between the two of them.

Agreed appling has been inconsistent.

Trice is still playing injured right now (tore a 3rd ligament yesterday before the wisconsin game, playing through it) so i think he can be a really good player since hes just a freshman.

we also get dawson back next year who can get some inside scoring and a decent jumper.

As for harris, most basketball recruits pan out like they're supposed to or at least close to it. Just like you guys thinking, and rightfully so, that mitch mcgary will make a big impact on your team. which he will

Is Gary Harris an above average outside shooter? I think that's what State has lacked the past few years, and Byrd was supposed to be that guy but I haven't seen anything from him but airballs. State will be just as strong next year if Nix can play long minutes and Appling can contribute night in and night out.

MSU didn't have much of a program for most of the 20th century either.  They've been to the NCAA tournament more times, won more Big Ten titles, more Final Fours, etc. under Izzo than they did in their entire history before him.  They had two great years with Magic Johnson in the '70s and that was about it.

Historically, Michigan was usually the stronger program.  Even now, after Izzo's been there 17 years and won a ton, we still have the same number of conference titles (13) and lead the head-to-head series by about 20 games.

I know we hate both teams...but both teams are playing REALLY well right now. The B1G looks good as the only game on TV with two very good basketball teams battling to the end.

Clearly the best conference in the country.

Well, at least they didn't win the title in football. I don't know if I could stand them having the best football AND basketball teams in the same year.

maybe they can stop whining for 5 minutes about anything!!!  Wait, Izzo will never stop whining.  Next they won't like their bracket...or where they play....or they will whine that we are 5 minutes closer than they are....  or DieDie, or whatever his name is, has a blister or something....
