Auburn accepts Frost commitment

TheRinger RT @auburnrivals: Auburn has accepted a commitment from Kris Frost.

Wow.  I wonder if we still have any chance to lure Frost.  I don't think Brady can give up on him.  When a guy was 99% Michigan only 2 weeks ago, you have to make a run at him.

It just seems odd that he would be so in love with Michigan, and then be willing to wait weeks for Auburn to accept him.

Go Blue Kris.  All we are saying, is give Hoke a chance.

EDIT: Here's the link -- Looks real bad for us.

EDIT(2): AND THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING

RT @GeoffVogt16: Dallas Crawford committed to Miami.

I know we were out of it, but it still hurts.

Kinard didn't surprise me one bit - he wasn't going to get in anyway.

If Ron English is named the DC, then I am officially out on the Hoke era.  That may be reactionary, but I'm not going to sit by and subject myself to the genius behind The Horror and the Quack Down for next year.

Since Hoke is thinking of making Beyer an OLB, that means that we already have 3 LBs with Beyer, Morgan and K Jones who seems solid to Michigan (might not visit Miami anymore...).

Frost is a talent so no question we would be missing a player.  But if we are able to grab a couple DL down the stretch, our front 6 or 7 will still be bringing in 5-7 players.

And a mystery recruit we know nothing about.  I suspect DeAnthony Arnett but I don't know.

You are good enough for SDSU but not Michigan just doesn't hold water as an argument to me.  You should play DB for us reeks of we are done in terms of WRs but we really like you and want to find a way for you to be here.

Q Tip wants to tell you that Lucien you have a friend in us....the Michigan fan base....

Its going to be like this recruiting-wise for the next 3 weeks.  Hoke was placed in a tough situation - perhaps the worst scenario (vs. Flordia, best scenario in a coaching change and how to retain recruits) for an incoming head coach.  Also, not many people recognize Hoke and the "identity" of his teams yet.  Give him a year at Michigan and next years prospects will look better.  Glad and fortunate for the recruits that we do have in this class and I support them but this year's recruiting is going to be a wash.

Go Blue.

Good point.  Once Brandon made the decision to keep RR for the bowl game, it was basically RR-or-bust when it came to recruiting.  I do think Hoke will grab a couple of kids at the end because UM is a big name and classes do tend to fill up, but this class is going to be the one we look back at in a couple of years as a rough patch.

"If Frost isn't coming, why not extend Devin an offer at WR?"

Because our coach would crawl 2000 miles over broken glass to be at Michigan. Don't you get it? He fits, not like that loser former coach we had. DB made it clear in "The Process" that this recruiting class really didn't matter.

Start focusing on the 2012 class, because this one will be worse than RR's first one. You know, the one he had six weeks to put together.

Agreed, salvage what you can and dont look at another recruiting post until after signing day. All that time focussing on 2011 recruits detracts from the primary focus - the current team, getting coaching spots filled, and getting ready for Spring Camp.

Gotta agree.  This class will probably be on the worst/shallowest in UM history, but that's the shakes.  This definitely falls on Brandon, but at this point everything has already been said.  Bring on 2012.

a long time ago? .. (December)....when we could laugh at the size and quaility of the Penn State recruiting class??...............That was great........(sigh)

The extra month of limbo for these kids was just a WONDERFUL idea.  More and more I'm getting confident in my view that DB wasn't ready to be a bigtime AD just like RR was an offensive coordinator learning to be a bigtime HC.

You might see "targets" on Scout or Rivals, but they are not realistic.

Right now we have 3 LBs - Morgan, Jones, and Beyer (Hoke is leaning LB over DL)

Frank Clark could play LB but I think we are recruiting him at TE.

I don't know of any other targets.

But consider 2012 -- in Michigan alone we have James Ross and Royce-Jenkins Stone.  I think we're better off selling them on playing time rather than adding a random 4th LB for depth's sake.

Given how shallow the team is at LB, I'd rather them offer a 4th LB and take a chance than "save" the scholarships for 2012.  There is no assurances that any of the recruits you mentioned would come to UM, and I'd rather have depth at the position than bank on some 18-year-olds starting in case anyone gets injured.

but do we really have that big a depth issue at LB? We have added three in this class and currently have guys like:

Demens, Fitzgerald, M. Jones, C. Gordon, T. Gordan, Bell, Hawthorne, M. Robinson, Furman, C. Johnson and I may be missing one.

I realize we don't know for sure that some of these guys won't be play the safety position is this not enough depth? I am genuinely asking as I'm not sure myself.

Yes, that is likely enough depth, with adding the 3 recruits, but who knows?  We don't even have a defensive coordinator yet!!  We don't know what defense Hoke is planning on running.  Hoke could continue the 3-3-5 that he ran in SDSU last year, or he could bring someone in that wants to run a variant of the 4-3.  Could be multiple looks and defenses.  I think a lot of those guys are "tweener" guys...guys that RichRod/GERG had as hybrid DB/LB types.  So I guess other questions will be (after figuring out which D to run): Which guys are you expecting to bulk up and play more of the traditional 4-3 LB spots (if that's what you are running).  How long will that take?  Which guys have the body type you are looking for now, but aren't performing up to your expectations?  Lots of questions remain before you can say we truly have the depth at each defensive position that we need for the defense we're running.

(I'm sure this has been said already but...)

If I'm a third-stringer at Auburn, I definitely wouldn't open my mail for a couple of days.  You're likely to find a form letter letting you otherwise.
