Well deserved.

Since taking the starting job, he is averaging 33.7 mpg and 11.4 ppg with a shooting line of 51/46/90 (2P/3P/FT).

I think he came a little too late to the party to have an opportunity at All-B1G Freshman Team.

Dawkins has really upped his game of late...a most pleasant surprise from what I expected early in the season.  If only Chatman can take himself to where all of us expected he would be, next year could be a very good season....the silver lining from the injuries.

Kameron Chatman is a freshman who played like one.  That isn't exactly breaking news.  I was more surprised that Zak Irvin didn't take the "Beilein Leap."  It would have taken a lot of pressure off of Walton and LeVert.  The season could have played out a lot differently if that had happened.

Bottom line: we never really know what players are capable of until they go out and show us.  I think Irvin will take the "leap" next year, but we'll just have to wait and see.

a little later in the season than we all thought it might. Dylan from UM Hoops on Zak:

"We’ve seen an incredible growth in Zak Irvin’s game. He’s ran 87 ball screens this year and created 85 points. He still almost always dribbles off the pick and attempts an off the dribble jump shot, but he’s added the ability to pass the ball. . .

In first two months of the season, Irvin had made just five passes in the pick and roll game. In the last two months. . . 28.

. . .At the season’s mid-way point, Irvin looked like a player that was stuck in neutral. . . A couple months later, and the promise is clear. Irvin is sticking mid-range jumpers, making reads and starting to find himself in the offense."

has handle has improved quite a bit this year. it has shown since the irvin/walton injuries.  you would hold your breath last year any time he put the ball on ground.  now, he is pretty effective at dribble driving.  he is even creating a bunch of assists now.

this team should have several dribble drive candidates next year, including dawkins, who i hope improves his handle too.

It is hard to predict.  I think that Irvin has made considerable improvement in his ball handling skills as well as his game when he goes to the basket, but it has taken some time.

We are all spoiled by the huge leaps that happened to Burke, Lavert, and Stauskus from year one to year two.

If only the honors were given out after the tourney. When Dawkins leads Michigan to win the tourney and get a spot in the big dance, no one would question putting him on all the lists.

Random note that probably doesn't merit its own thread, but Eric Bossi from Rivals said that if Moritz Wagner were a US-high school prospect, he'd probably be ranked in the 20-40 range in the Top 100.

Bossi also said Wagner probably won't make a decision until late April at the earliest.

Duke has also inquired, as has UConn (I think he may have some of the same connections that Niels Giffey had). Maybe it's his timeline or the fact that most people thought he'd end up playing pro ball in Germany so they didn't want to waste the big time and effort it'd take to recruit him.

This team is going to be really good next year. If Caris comes back, they will be a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.

I think everyone needs to pump the brakes on the hype for next season. This was a good game against a very bad Rutgers team. If Michigan brings in that German kid, Walton comes back 100%, Robinson actually lives up to the hype, and there are no injuries, Michigan could have a decent season. There a lots of variables. I think Caris is gone but I believe the offense flows better without him. Michigan really needs someone to step up and be a leader. 2 yeas ago it was Trey and last year it was Nik. I am not sure there is anyone like that on the team.

anyone from the 2014 class.  He, MAAR and Doyle all look very solid going forward.  We still need an elite player or two though for us to make a deep tournament run next year.  If Caris comes back that would certainly help.  Otherwise, it likely won't be until 2016.

If Dawkins keeps this trajectory going into next year, he will be a 15 point per game type of player, maybe even a 19ppg type of player if he can develop a consistent ability to drive to the hoop. He has a lot more upside than Stauskas ever had, and after Camp Sanderson this summer his athletic ability could skyrocket. It's easy to see the bright future if we have 2 more years of Dawkins. I would not bet against Beilein & co. to turn Dawkins into an NBA player faster than we may like.

So people are capable of voting for a Michigan player to win an award.    Good to know.
