But those are SWEET!

Being a history buff, the inclusion of the map inside the numbers is quite cool.  This is probably the first time I've ever looked at an alternate uniform and not shake my head over its stupidity.

Navy is 7-4 and already bowl eligible, and they are going to the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Dec 29th vs Arizona State.  Army is 2-9 so this is their bowl game.  They are fighting for pride in the rivalry as uaual, but also, both Army and Navy beat Air Force, so the winner of this game gets the Commander In Chief's Trophy for winning the service acadamies' series.

My father in law went to West Point so I'm pulling for Army to get the upset, but it is unlikely to happen.  On the other hand, I didn't see Army beating Boston College or Air Force coming either.

In a recent year past, there was an Army team that was 5-6 heading into this game, so their spot in their tie-in bowl was being held open for them in the event that they won the game, and when they lost it was given to a different team instead.

The Marine Corps is the Navy's land forces, it's run by the Department of the Navy and is not a "separate" branch of the armed forces in that sense. Annapolis grads choose to serve their military commitment in either the Navy or the Marines.

I don't always like alternate uniforms, but when I do, I think those Army unis are pretty damn sweet!

Now get the hell off my lawn anyway.

They kinda look like Northwestern's underarmour jerseys; the stripes on the sleeves are of similar design. I do like them a lot though, Nike does amazing work with their pro combat line.

The Army- Navy game is the only rivalry game that even comes close to Michigan- Ohio for me. I  love watching it. It's a great way to end the college football regular season every year.

You want to see players leave it on the field? Watch this game. The tradition is great.

One of my best friends did a semester at Air Force (he was a midshipman at the time) and he told horror stories about Navy week in Colorado Springs. He took it all in stride as good fun, but they went all out to make life tough that week.

Oh and also, the uniforms are okay but that undershirt is awesome, and I love when they do the long sleeve look with striped undershirts in general.

Gotta root for Army.

What has it been, ten years since They won?  How can the greatest fighting force in the world have the worst football team?  (I know, sarcasm illiterate guys, just being ironical)

My best buddy from high school played for Navy and even he is starting to feel bad for Army.  At least we know if they lose Saturday, those Army seniors will be undefeated from here on out.

GOD BLESS THEM ALL.  I hope it's a dog fight and Army wins a squeaker.

No, you don't get it.  Don't you see that guy in his check-out-how-intimidating-my-lats-are pose?  His head tilted slightly forward in what would be a no-nonsense glare if you could see his eyes through the very serious visor?  Knees slightly bent in a posture that says "I could attack at any time, yet am ready to defend myself against the slightest provocation."  Light levels low enough to allow him to pounce from the shadows, yet high enough to allow the gold accents to shine brightly in a way they could never do in the sunlight.  This guy's a warrior, man.  That's what Nike uniformz do for you in a way that boring Army gray or camouflage or regular black football uniforms could never do.  That's special enough for anyone.

When will this stuff ever end? If there was ever an indication that there is way too much money in college sports the uniform arms race is it. It's the same picture every time... Big whoop.
