Apparently, Engler has been Fired at MSU

Heard on radio, no link, but lots of Twitter scuttlebutt too...

Purely from a public relations standpoint, Engler has been a fireman who brings a can of gasoline to each conflagration. That's not how you're supposed to do things when you're supposedly working in cleanup mode after a major scandal.

In other words, if he had simply kept his pie hole shut, he'd still have a job tomorrow.

I mean, I would be almost positive that this is the subject of the BOT's meeting tomorrow morning. What is sad is that it took this many missteps for them to realize just how bad and how embarrassing a move this was. The Michigan State crisis management / public relations folks were apparently underutilized at best, to put it kindly, according to a few people talking this morning on the radio, which is just unconscionable in a moment like the one they were facing.

Engler previously had enough allies on the BoT to where he could be shielded from most of this. I don't know how many members of the BoT were overturned after the elections (don't live in the state anymore), but I have to imagine that some of his buddies were voted out of office and replaced with more sensible people. People who have been looking for any way they could to remove Engler as soon as humanly possible.

Nothing sounds official yet, but if it does turn out to be true, then thank the gods....

I don't use this term lightly, but John Engler is a cancer. You can't argue with cancer, reason with it, or negotiate with it. Cancer doesn't care what you think, and is indifferent to whether or not it ruins your plans or hurts your feelings. So how do you beat cancer? Rip it out. Forcefully, if necessary. There is no conversation about it. Cut it out and discard it.

I don't care what side of the political aisle you find yourself on. If this is how you treat these kinds of situations, mocking sexual assault survivors and portraying them to be conspiring money-hungry opportunists looking to make a quick buck, then you are not worth the chair you sit on.

It's one thing to be evil.  It's another thing to be evil and run your mouth about how evil you are.

MSU tied themselves to this asshole.  Why they didn't fire him at least a year ago is beyond me.

Unfortunately Engler did exactly what he was brought in to do. Protect Mork and Izzo and keep the focus on Nassar. Hard to believe anyone would want this job. Mork and Izzo both recruit questionable kids and the whole athletic department is still a cesspool.

When one of your trustees publicly says you're not just a bully, but a mean spirited human being, it's time to look in the mirror, shave your demonic, pointy eye brows down a bit, disappear for a while and develop a healthy drinking habit.

So they finally decided to flush this gigantic turd down the toilet. Hopefully this is just the beginning of the new BOT and they will clean up the rest of University. Time will tell.

As much as he is the gift that keeps giving I suppose it’s better for society if he is put out to pasture.

Anyone want to go cow tipping this weekend?

Reading his resignation letter is nauseating. He certainly pats himself on the back for doing such a great job. Seriously? That man has no concept of the disgusting behavior that he has been guilty of since he returned to MSU.
