Anyone actually rooting for ND this year?

As strange as it may be I am actually hoping ND becomes relevant again this year. I wouldn't mind them getting 8 or 9 wins as long as Michigan beats them and has a good year as well.

I root for Ohio State to be undefeated coming into the Michigan game so that we beat them at their season's peak.

But I root for Notre Dame to go 0-12 every year and for South Bend to be overrun with farting locusts.

I would never root for Notre Dame for anything, ever. It is just unfortunate that there isn't a way to keep ND miserable and sucking, whilst keeping Charlie at the helm. If they are as bad as I want them to be, he'll be gone. I can only hope that the next schmuck they bring in is just as bad.

then so be it. Notre Dame is a fine school. It has athletic tradition second only to Michigan. Their current coach is a bit of a douche, and of course I want to see UM and NU beat them to a pulp in all contests, but aside from that I see ND to be more of what's right about CFB than what's wrong.

If it's about the NBC contract or the BCS gimme-setup, I can see that as a real annoyance. As far as fawning media coverage goes, it's obnoxious, but that's the MSM. If you want news in the run-up to a war, don't watch FOX; if you want news in advance of a football season don't watch anything, and read only MGoBlog and Dr. Saturday.

Seriously folks: in a world that contains Tennessee, FSU, 'Bama and other equally classless institutions, why is ND the one singled out for hatred? A real rivalry is fueled by at least a bit of mutual respect.
