Anybody Here Making the Trip to Columbus Tomorrow?

Submitted by WingsNWolverines on

The Schott is not a a fun place for visiting fans to come watch their team play. I saw Ohio State play MSU three years ago and they were in those State fans faces from start to finish. I actually felt bad for them. (Tells you how bad it will be.) If you are going expect the usual and typical songs and cheers from the Bucknut crowd. I will warn you that a Michigan win although awesome and gut punching to tOSU would be it's asking to get beaten up somewhere in that arena. One of the many reasons why I am not going down there. I've already had my car messed with on that campus before and I am NOT going through that again. If you are going though hopefully all goes well and you come back home with no issues. To give you a heads up I was reading the slime on Bucknuts and like most intelligent posts one of its users seems to have no issue with beating up one of our fans. I think it said "I swear to fuck, any scUM fan after that game better watch his fucking back if I see em." Perfect example of Ohio logic. So with that said anybody coming to Eastern Germany this Sunday?

My aunt teaches at tOSU and always has me back right up against the garage door when I visit, so my plate is hidden.  The one time she had a guest who didn't, their car was vandalized.  She lives in random suburban Columbus, not the student ghetto, and it still happens.  That city has issues.

Michigan vandalism from OSU fans has decreased it seems. I have a Michigan M magnet on the back of my truck, a Michigan M window decal on my back window and I have a Michigan antenna ball hanging from my rear view mirror and it's going on a year now and still hasn't been messed with. Then again I live in a more educated city and no where near campus.

Michigan football and men's basketball went through an extremely disappointing 10-year period from 2001-10 (worst decade since the '50s for the school's two high-profile teams). Rivals will be less rabid when they're laughing.

Now that both programs are re-establishing their places on the upper crust of the conference, I wouldn't be surprised to see OSU vandalism make a comeback.

I recommend hanging out in the Arena District afterward. It's far enough from campus that it won't be as aggressive but still in the city. I'll probably be down that way watching the game as well.

Just watch out for them crazy driver types on the roadways. It's true what they say about Columbus drivers, even if some of the fans are mentally stable and nonviolent.

I however have better road smarts than 80% of the motorists who drive in Columbus. I've never seen people not yield to an incoming semi coming down the outerbelt onto the highway. (Except here) That is a perfect way to guarantee your death.

when I hit the Dan Ryan and am able to deal with sane drivers compared to the unpredictable ones here in cbus.  And heaven help if there is any precipitation arriving...then everyone will either be panicking and driving 85 or freezing up and driving 20 mph in the fast lane as they all swarm the local Krogers to empty the shelves of french toast ingredients (wife's joke - they all have to run and buy eggs, milk, and bread at the threat of a storm).

Who's to say you'll be the one getting beat up and not doing the beating up should Michigan win? If one of those mouth-breathers hit me, I'd hit back.

I cant believe they are calling their new head football coach, UM, scUM already.   I know he has taken some verbals from some questionable players regarding academics and behavior as of late, but already?  I thought they would give ole Urban more of a chance.  :)

Lol it's funny how folks get a lot tougher when they out number you 10 to 1. I lived in Columbus most of my life and I've been a Michigan fan since I was in third grade. I've never been shy about reping the  Wolverines and I can't say I ever had a problem on OSU campus. We even flew a U of M flag on Gameday but,  that was the john cooper days.

I think it said "I swear to fuck any scUM fan after that game better watch his fucking back if I see em."

Was it a girl , was she hot? What you topic should say is Bring a condom to the Ohio game tommorow!

I'm going, but my parents have seasons tix to all tOSU sports - I've had idiots say things to me even when I'm walking with my folks, who are head-to-toe in scarlet and gray and are obviously in their 70s...

And swore I would never go back after dealing with that crowd.  Lasted all of two years, but the treatment there in 2002 put Columbus on my personal "no fly" list.

As a Michigan fan living in columbus for the last ten years it has been rough to say the least. But, today as I was walking into Target w/my Michigan sweatshirt on a guy said "go blue"! And while that may not seem like much, it is a huge improvement over what I hear most days when I don my maize and blue! That being said, I will be supporting Michigan tomorrow from a seat within the Schott hoping we can find a way to pull it out...GO BLUE!!!!!

^^^  The thing with Columbus is there are a LOT of Michigan fans there.  They often keep it on the down-low out of an understandable desire to not be lynched, but there are a lot more than the Ohio Shtate conformity police would have you believe.  You'd be surprised by the amount of people who give you a grin and a 'Go Blue' when you walk around town with a Michigan shirt.

I would even go so far as to say that at least a quarter of Columbus' M fans grow to like Michigan because of the blindly sheepish way the rest of the town is expected to like East Dayton Vocational Prep College.

Carry a shank, take out the biggest moron who comes at you.. No big deal.. problem solved.  Seriously though ive been there for football and basketball before with a good friend who is a huge bucknut and have obviously heard the obligatory fuck you's etc.  Usually from a dad with two small children.. class at its finest!  While not enjoyable, behind enemy lines never is!

Went to Columbus over the summer, staying in a hotel down there for a baseball tournament, woke up the next day with my buddies car vandalized with no Michigan stickers or anything, just the license plate

I'm a Michigan fan and live near Columbus. While there are the stories of extreme problems with UM fans, I think a lot of people exaggerate the problem. As was said before, mind your own business, and you're going to be fine. Now on to the second half. I hope we can pull this game out.
