To any of you who sold your tickets to OSU fans

You suck. No sugarcoat. I see the stadium in the overhead shots and I feel sick. What an embarrassment.

I have to second that as well. So sad to see the big house with all that red. But hopefully the ones that show up are loud enough to make up for all the fair weather fans that sold their tickets!

Maybe if the team was any good or had any shot of winning, they wouldn't have. Oh well, Harbaugh or Kelly should be here soon, it's pretty obvious that the administration is looking for ways to get a new coach here. Never seen a program admit to something as inane as not keeping workout logs before.

Go cheer for the Buckeyes, dickbag. I'm sick and tired of trash like you and Tomhagan trying to ruin this season for those of us who actually love this team and not just being able to brag about college football to our coworkers on Monday. You're scum.

I'm not, and when the program is in the dumpster, the coach doesn't get my undying love. The program is at it's lowest point ever. Investigations, players leaving, etc. It if it happens once or twice, maybe it's not a huge deal, but when it happens again and again, there has to be some substance to it. Has there ever been a coach that has come in with such negativity to a program and turned out to be successful or win a championship? What are the numbers on that one? Face it, the guy's a bust and the administration doesn't seem to be behind him. Direct quote from Martin on the log incident: "We're the ones who picked up the phone to call the NCAA about this." He's selling him down the river, and the alumni are steering the boat. Get a damn clue.

If you sell your ticket before the O$U game because you've resigned yourself to a loss, you're fairweather fan. Period. I don't give a fuck who the coach is.

Yes, because the decision to root for Michigan football is equivalent to people not buying a betamax. Because people had an emotional investment in a betamax. Take your faux-B-School shit to a different site, asshole.

Dude, saying people will not support a failing product is not the way to argue against being called a fair-weather fan. It is, in fact, the exact definition of a fair-weather fan: someone who supports the team only when things are going well.

I'm sitting here in my UM gear as we write, watching and supporting the team. But it is impossible to argue with my point when so much of the damn stadium is wearing scarlet and gray. And calling me fair weather doesn't serve as an argument, it just proves that I'm right. If the program wasn't in the gutter, this wouldn't be happening, end of discussion. And who took us to the gutter?

"And who took us to the gutter?" If you are trying to imply that RR is 100% (or even mostly) to blame for the team's play, you are woefully ignorant.

Well, the Lions were selling out games for years despite being crap the past 5-6 years. This team is 5-7 with a bunch of freshmen and no continuity. That isn't a great record, but it shows growth. How about you find some other team to root for. Nobody here is preaching undying loyalty, but 2 years with little talent on either side of the field doesn't point toward winning seasons.

Nothing new, but a new angle was put on it by the Vs. network guys, and they have a point. Workout logs are most likely shady at every major program in the nation, so why was UM so eager to report theirs? Seems like someone's trying to pile on and oust him. Never heard that before, but with the rise of Harbaugh at Stanford I have to say it makes some sense.

Seriously, what planet are you on? There is no way Harbaugh will ever coach Michigan. He burned his bridges, he's got diarrhea of the mouth, has no class, and wants to jump to the NFL. Do us all a favor and take a long walk off a short pier.

Thank you your insightful, well-written posts. I look forward to seeing you on this board for years to come. You are a great fan, and a man amongst boys.

hey everyone, justin boren's joined the mgocommunity! really, i read your comments about economics and whatnot. what you fail to acknowledge is that while sports are a business, things like ticket sales, merchandise, and whatnot, especially at a school like michigan which has such storied tradition and support, is a function of emotion. do you really think that people who have supported this team so fervently for so many years are just going to start giving away these tickets to the enemy? do you really believe that the michigan fanbase, or any fanbase at a major school in the country, is that fickle? if you truly believe that, i feel sorry for you. regardless, this michigan team played amazing fire today, especially that defense. they left it all out of the field. we made too many mistakes on offense, otherwise, we're going bowling. and they weren't bad playcalls - they were execution errors by a young quarterback who's at times in over his head.

Isure as hell do, was the stadium sold out before Bo came in the late '60's? And how can you argue when you clearly saw that fans abandoned the team in droves today. The difference now is that the team isn't good like it was for all those years. So yes, the fans are that fickle. Obviously.

Is that Michigan fans UM shirts in maize, blue, white, grey, etc. I agree that there are way to many OSU tools at the game, but visually they look to be in greater numbers because they're all wearing scarlet. It'd be nice if Michigan fans would go all one color like Texas A&M or Penn State

A big part of the problem is weather. Maize-outs are easy early in the year, because most of the people in the stadium have or can get the maize t-shirts. As the season goes on, though, people begin to bundle up. Four years in that stadium taught me that most people don't have maize clothing for winter weather, and it can be hard to pull that t-shirt that fit perfectly in the fall over a coat or multiple layers. It's a lot easier to find blue winter clothing, but as we've seen in the past the maize shows much better both in the stands and on the TV cameras.

A little bit of your soul goes along with every ticket you sell to an OSU fan. Seriously, too much red. I hope the OSU fans I know just look over this. Do not want to hear it from them.

Seeing the overhead shot from the blimp pisses me off. It looks like more than half the stadium is red. I would rather eat my ticket and have my seat be empty instead of selling it to one of hicks. Horrible.

Yeah, I got a text from an OSU fan I know at the beginning of the game saying something about it. I blew him off, then when I saw the shot from the air my heart sank. These "fans" always want to throw around words like unacceptable when talking about Michigan football the last two years. Well, bailing on your team like this because of a little adversity is unacceptable.

MGoTarHeel

November 21st, 2009 at 1:59 PM ^

What you have to realize is that good teams NEVER go through adversity. You look at the truly elite teams like Alabama, Nebraska, Florida, USC, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, and you see that they have never had to endure such trials as these seasons we have had to watch. A losing season is unacceptable. And Rich Rod is clearly an incompetent coach if he cannot muster a bowl out of 19 Freshman. So all you people who think that these fans are "fair weather" or are "pussies", remember that if we are an elite program, we should never have to think about adversity, attrition, updating to the times, or progress. The real elite programs don't have down years.
