Any surprise recruits left?

Submitted by Eye of the Tiger on

Looking at that depth chart, I have to say the thinness at OG worries me.  Any chance we've still got an OL prospect we could haul in this year?  What about other key positions?

I don't think so. Leilon Willingham is the last guy we're waiting for, I believe. Coach Hoke said there would only be a few more additions and that was before he heard of the Barnett committment.

How can I avoid downvotes?

Don't be redundant. Don't use stupid nicknames like O$U. Spell things correctly. Don't post useless replies like "I agree" and whatnot.

What happens when I get huge numbers of negative points?

I get dinged and I check your profile out to see if you're pure troll or not, and ban appropriately.

Good question. While there is an obvious canidate waiting for the 14th, maybe another is more vulnerable to some last minute nudging? Kouandijio has not sent his loi in yet, Jacoby Brissett is a big 6'5" QB. Long shots at best, but the only non obvious factors left.

A "what if" but since we're here, let's say we get Clowney and lose out on Willingham, how would that affect UM's outlook for ranking and expectations for next season?

Would it affect overall recruiting rankings much?

What happens to these kids that get the short end of the stick from the SEC. I gotta think that there are recruits with potential in there somewhere. Maybe some with a chip on their shoulder as well.

Our two most unlikely 2011 guys were Countess, with all the pressure on him from so many other schools and the grabbing of Bellomy from TX. Arguements for others as more unlikely could also be made.

I realize that the depth at guard took a hit with Campbell and Washington moving to DT, but guard is the least of our worries.  I'm pretty sure Khoury could play OG if needed.  And perhaps even Pace.  And if there was a total rash of injuries you'd just move one of the DT guys back and be okay.

Tackle is more concerning since Posada is not likely going to play tackle at this level and that leaves us with only three players.  As we saw the past two years,  you're going to need at least one back-up tackle as the season goes on.  I suppose Omameh would be the 4th string tackle.

teammates regardless of who DB hired.  To hear Cooper's take and the stone faces of players at Hoke's meet and greet - these guys have each other and that is the only constant.  I don't think you can credit Hoke for DRob's character.  Plus the timing did not allow any athlete to realistically consider their options.  Post a 3 strikes spring and summer Michigan should be a different team in the fall.  That much I think is fair to attribute to Hoke.

I read on this blog within the last week or two that next year there is better talent coming up within the state of Michigan.  Maybe it is not so bad to have a few more schollies available for a top ten class next year.

You'd be correct sir. There should be a lot of talent in Michigan next year and not just Michigan but Indiana, Illinois and Ohio especially all should be rich in talent. I really like our chances in having an impressive class next year, it should be a lot of fun to watch how it all plays out!

Clowney announces on his birthday for... Michigan! In all seriousness our only shot at this point seems to be Willingham. Although at this point that seems to be looking unlikely with the recent rumors.

My life now awaits Junior days and the class of 2012! Why did i get into recruiting...

and talk to OL Cyrus Kouandjio.  He was an Auburn verbal but never sent in his LOI. Now seems confused about what to do. He's too good not to make a run at given the circumstances.  The worst thing that can happen is Cyrus goes elsewhere and Hoke increased his carbon footprint.
