Curious to know how many of you glorious people are making the trip to the Penn state game. For those that are making the trip: would any of you want to meet up for a mass tailgate? Had a lot of fun and met several awesome MGoFans at the Maryland game. I'll be grilling some steaks and preparing boatloads of venison chili. Hope to see a bunch of you there. Go Blue!! Hail hail!!!

Ok... I'll take the bait.  I'll be "that guy".  I always get a laugh out of people who can't be bothered to follow simple rules of grammar.  There's always an excuse, never ownership of the fact that they're just plain lazy, so they get pissy when people throw shade.  You don't want the snark?  Follow basic rules of grammar.  Learn to use an apostrophe.  Learn what a contraction is (hint: it's not would of, it's would've, which is short for 'would have').

My buddy's and I were thinking about making the trip, possibly staying in Pitt since hotels are outrageous in State College.. We'd be down to join in on a tailgate. Tailgate scene there is great and the stadium is my favorite place to visit. Well bring a lot of beer.

Think about staying in hotels on I 80 in towns close to Belefonte (the town you exit on I-80 to go to state college). Clearfirld, Clarion and Dubois have hotels. Also, eat at the Dutch Pantry. For being in such incredible denial, PSU fans rival any in the BIG for being nice.

I would recommend saving money and buying permit in advance.  $40 if purchase day of the game and you will be directed further away from the stadium without a permit.  $15 or $20 if purchase in advance, can't recall exact amount.  Call 1-800-NITTANY to order as I don't see a link to order online.

option (short of showing up at the ticket office in person) to get a parking permit in advance.

I have no idea why you can't also order this via the internet.  Well, I do have an idea --- PSU would prefer people pay $40 vs. $15.  But such is.

Also note that you should call prior to 11-November-2011 (10 days prior to the game), or else it will be $30 vs. $15 ($15 charge to deliver the pass via express mail).

Thinking about making the trip up from MD. Boss is a Penn State grad, so I may be able to score some tickets.

An MGoTailgate would be awesome.

My friends and I (about six of us) figured we had to make at least one trip to Happy Valley during undergrad. It will be a blast. I'd love an MGoTailgate! Also, given that PSU is in the middle of nowhere, is finding hotels a nightmare? I haven't even looked yet.

Finding hotels is not fun... Everything right around State College is around $450 a night (and that's the cheapest). 2 years ago we stayed in Slippery Rock and partied there, but it was about a 2 hour drive into Happy Valley and 2 hours back after the game. After the game it's really about 4 hours because getting out of Penn State is an absolute nightmare and takes forever. So just be prepared to have a post tailgate for a little while, cause you won't get very far if you leave right after the game.

If hotel prices are that outrageous, renting an RV might be the way to go.

You can park one there for the weekend in spots which have big tailgate scenes, so would be convenient for that purpose also.

The times that we've made the trip (can't this year because of a previous commitment), this is where we stayed and it works out very well. It isn't that far off the Turnpike (I-76) along I-99 if you're coming from the west (Detroit area, in our case) and like you said, it's only another 30 minutes or so up I-99 to get to State College, which is a reasonable distance really.

That's so nice of you! We will be in a caravan coming to the Penn State game, so we'll have our own tailgate. Hope you meet some great fans again! I'm really looking forward to this game and checking out Penn State's stadium. We went to Notre Dame and Ohio State last year and were very underwhelmed by their stadiums.

because my one and only trip there was for the 2013 penn state game. i watched it with a former michigan player (among others). said former michigan player had played under lloyd carr and, suffice it to say, was less than pleased with how the play calling was going.

and one time, I had my picture taken with the Jo Paterno statute.  Oh..this isn't the shameful thing you've done thread?

I won't be back. That place gives me the creeps just thinking about it.  Strange thing is, some of the coolest people I have ever met at our Ann Arbor tailgates have been the visitors from Penn State. I just can't get excited about planning a road trip to Happy Valley anymore.

making the Minnesota game on Halloween my road game rather than Penn State.

I've yet to take in a game at either venue (although I made it to the Metrodome a long time ago), and hope to eventually go to a Michigan road game in each and every stadium.  Looking at future schedules, we have no games scheduled at Minnesota thru 2019.  2020 and beyond is a long time from now; OTOH we'll be going to Happy Valley again in 2017.

(edit/slight hijack of thread)  Now that I've decided to help Michigan win the Little Brown Jug, what section(s) are designated for Michigan fans at TCF Bank Stadium?  I'd much rather sit somewhere close to fellow Wolverine fans than near the Minnesota students.

StubHub has a few tickets in the $40-$60 range and a lot priced between $60-75; they seem to be dropping in price a bit as Minnesota struggles.  OTOH, I expect demand for this game from Michigan fans to rise as long as we continue to win.

I'm looking to making the Minnesota game too.  Would be my first trip to Minnesota ... so I second any information about Michigan sections would be great.  I know tickets directly from their ticket site are about $75 (includes fee).

Also was thinking of staying in Eau Claire, WI ... shorten the drive home on Sunday.  Any advice on lodging ???   Thanks.

Perhaps we should start a new thread ?

Getting out of Penn State after the game will be the most frustrating experience of your life.  I have been there three times and have never gotten out of the tailgating area in less than 90 minutes.  Couple that with the fact that each time was a Michigan loss, each one more demoralizing than the previous, and I have no problems admitting that after the 3OT loss in 2013 I lost my damn mind for about 20 minutes and just yelled to no one in particular how much I hated everything at that particular point in time.

Hey so I finally got to watch the Maryland game. Maybe I missed this so sorry for the repeat I noticed Drake Johnson was on punt coverage. We were down Smith already and with drakes two bad knees didn't seem like a smart move. Also D. green a 5star. Man what happened?? I think we need to ride Smith and Johnson. Any thought? Thanks go blue
