Another streak broken

Obviously the ending of the bowl game streak got a lot of comment. Another streak just died on Saturday: The Michigan basketball team had made a Final of the NCAA tournament every decade since the 1960s: an awesome thing to bring up to any Michigan-hater who claimed that any glory was just from cheating Fab Five years. [A side note for you kids... 1965 finals loss to UCLA (Cazzie Russell-led); 1976 finals loss to Indiana (Rickey Green-led); 1989 national championship (of course); then the 1992 and 1993 losses (Fab Five). Now, I'm not blaming this team, which greatly exceeded expectations and obviously could not be expected to make a Final. But, it's still sad to see go... if only Amaker had a couple extra qualities or someone else had been hired at that time, maybe we could have given it a go.

2010 is the final year of this decade ,which began in 2001. ( There was no year zero, so decades begin in years ending in 1 ) So there's another year to extend this streak, technically speaking.

Although technically you are right, because so many people don't know that or see it that way, it's as good as false. Do you really consider 1970 part of the 60's? What year did you celebrate the new millennium, December of 2000?

I was totally unaware that the renown "Final Four appearance in every arbitrary 10 year period starting on 1960" streak was so important to someone. Someone should bring this to Bill Martin's attention immediately. IMMEDIATELY!

this is an OUTRAGE. An OUTRAGE I say! At this rate I bet the next streak blown is "consecutive weeks in which you can find a drunk sorority girl showing up after halftime and leaving the stadium on her cell phone at the end of the third quarter" (actually, in hindsight, I guess that wouldn't be all that bad)
