The sad thing is that this WVU investigation was most likely inspired by one of two factors: 1) CYA! WVU realized that this would probably spill over to them and they wanted to "get out in front" of this sh*t. 2) There were probably some in the WVU AD who were hoping that they WOULD find violations so they could pile on RR.

Glad to see something like this come out. I doubt RR would just start violating the rules at this point in his career. I really hope to see this Rosenberg get thoroughly embarrassed when his "hard-hitting" story is exposed for what it is.

If WVU is jumping all over the chance to burry RR you know there is no truth to this story. I can't wait for saturday and all this RR is the devil shit to stop and have some real football to discuss. I can't stand how every little thing RR has done people wanna investigate and show how awfull of a thing he did, true or not. I'm expecting to wake up tomarow and read "little boy drowns in tolite, RR to blame for intentionally leaving the seat up."

I don't see this going away anytime soon. The Free Press could put it to rest, by either amending their article or offering a full or partial retraction. Considering that this story is likely generating them a fair amount of revenue, I doubt they'll do it. Another way is for a major news organization unaffiliated with Michigan (ESPN, SI, or a different major newspaper) to go after the Free Press for this. This won't happen until and unless that organization is sure that the Free Press is full of crap. If a major news organization attacks the Free Press and are wrong on the smallest detail, then they'll have a huge mess on their hands that they really don't want to deal with. The final way is for the NCAA and an outside firm to investigate the allegations and to conclude that absolutely nothing happened. This almost certainly won't happen unless Martin decides to go the route of the Basketball scandal and do so, which is rather unlikely as the likelihood of any major sanctions are incredibly low anyways. An NCAA investigation on its own won't work either, because their investigations unit has allowed itself to become irrelevant by failing to get anything on USC, OSU, etc.

Good stuff. CLEARLY there is a track record of compliance for RR and his staff. Clearly...there were some hold over pussys from the previous regime who couldnt handle the extra expectations of excellence, and washed out... and are now voicing their gripes (Tony with an e Clemons for example) btw... Mgoblue.com has posted the official UM compliance video under the multimedia..

One former WVU player admitted Rodriguez pushed hard and could be difficult to play for, especially early in a career or player-coach relationship. "Players are different and not everyone can handle the workload," the player said. "Some of them aren't used to it. Some of them don't want to compete. Some of the more highly recruited players are used to being babied."

WVU checking the records is about saving their own ass in case Rich Rod gets implicated, and I highly doubt that it was for the purpose of defending him. Do you think they would check the records and say "Whaddyaknow! We've got all kinds of NCAA practice violations on record, want to have a look?" Not that they have any real reason to fear the NCAA in this case, but it's probably just a precaution.

This article merely shows WVU taking the stance of "that stuff never happened HERE." Nothing can be read into this article beyond WVU saying that no violations occured at their program. This doesn't help UM one bit. The argument is that we brake the rules, that we don't want to abide by how NCAA dictates a program should be run and that we've cheated to get what we have (well, cheated more WITH RR than with other coaches) at the expense of our Student-Athletes' precious summer vacay.

Somebody hasn't been paying attention. From the article: "He interrupted one question on the season's first Big East Conference coaches' teleconference with 'Next question.' When the reporter, from the Ann Arbor News, asked if Stewart was serious, Stewart replied, 'I'm here to talk about West Virginia football.'" If that reporter is from the Ann Arbor News, he's not getting paid or published anymore.

the Freep. They protect their own as tenaciously as cops do. It's a rare one who has the balls and integrity to publicly call out a colleague. and +1 to Blaze for one of the best movie quotes ever.

What players would you be reffering to on the team? The freshmen that were duped into this whole thing? Or the wr that's in boulder who fell down the depth chart at UM with an axe to grind? I love all of you media alarmists. Pathetic. But you are only strengthening the UM players"us against the world" attitude. Sorry to hurt your feelings jamie but the days of the country club enviornment are gone at UM. your days of being close to the program are over obviously He replied: Mike.. I was really never close to the program. I was just reacting to the news the way everyone else is. If you think this is just a case of disgruntled players - that's fine. What I find odd, is that there are always going to be disgrunteled players, especially with a new coach, and you normally don't hear this kind of revolt. I agree, the anonymous nature is very annoying - and it seems like those players don't have the courage to show their faces, but still want some retribution for RR. But this is just another issue that RR has to deal with, and at Michigan where they don't take "scandal" lightly, it just adds importance to an already huge year. I'm a lousy writer. I encourage you to read Wojo's column in the News today. I think he perfectly states the concern that RR and UM face today
