And into the season we go.... CORRECTED****

Submitted by FormerWolv on

Well folks, before we take off are your seat belts fastened and tray table in the up-right and locked position? This is going to be a ride.

1) Fitz is the clear #1 RB, but he's hurt. **Edit ***Smith***will get the start.

2) We will know Shaw's status very very soon.

3) My key player to watch in the UCONN game? Mike Martin.

4) DG has the "tentative RS" (which shouldn't be surprising)

5) Our DB's going into week one? JT Floyd & James Rodgers

6) Denard is #1 (should be obvious by now).

7) Smith's knee is worrisome, Hopefully he didn't come back too soon.

8) Cam Gordon will be on a short-ish leash at safety.

***9) Carvin is getting some time as a strong safety kind of guy (not kovacs' spot). expect to see him on sat.

***10) Talbot, and Avery will play this year.

...and then his brother left A2 and Tate fell apart. I don't care who starts just as long as this team plays consistently good football. The problem is I am not optimistic the team can do that this year, especially on the D side of the ball.

I spoke with a buddy of mine who's a huge UConn fan and he said that they have QB issues. He's not real confident in the QB but said the rest of the team is solid, but not great. He reminded me to consider the competition in the Big East.

He said he'd be surprised if Michigan lost to UConn. And he's pretty a pretty die-hard college football guy, he's familiar w/ UM's holes/uncertainties.

I've been watching for UConn to have a breakout year for about 3-4 years now. They have had teams more stacked than this one and still not done anything with it. I'm not saying that will necessarily happen this year, but I would be surprised if they are even in contention for the Big East title going into the last week or two of the season.

I honestly think our offense will roll right through them and our defense will probably bend and not break in this game.

I just think that our talent level compared to theirs should be enough to carry us next Saturday. Plus having two quarterbacks that have gametime experience.

this thread is mostly one, seemingly well informed  reader/blogger sharing with us.

is there a blackout, where Brian and whoever is in charge of the editorial product of this blog, have agreed not to publish any info that could help our opponents?  Because I would have thought that the last week before the season starts would be huge with new stuff.

Is this going to continue during the season?

I usually don't post just to say thanks, but I truly appreciate actual informaiton from someone "in the know."  Please keep it up, as you think appropriate and responsible.

FormerWolv - other reports that I've read about the Beanie Bowl claimed that Denard & Tate shared most of the snaps & Devin got just a few.   I'm just wondering if the reports are wrong because it doesn't really go along with your claim that the order is Denard, Devin & Tate.  Thanks.

I think it's the staff transitioning from trying to get Devin up to speed to prepping for game week.  I think everyone would like to be able to redshirt Devin and create some space between him, Denard and Tate.

That said, I'd be shocked if Devin didn't travel to every game.

For some reason I kept reading the original post over and over and over.  The insider info was intoxicating.  Good lord I can't wait for Saturday.
