Amedeo Della Valle going pro in Europe
Even more reason to be happy we went after Spike instead of Amedeo. Seriously though, Spike is the man. Go Blue!

I think he needs more time.
According to the article, an Italian club is already looking at him.
Hilarious. I'll miss that bumbling doofus.
Couldn't have said it any better myself.
Hipster Doofus.
wrong thread
Honestly that gives them another spot that isn't him
My thoughts exactly.
My thoughts exactly.
My thoughts exactly.
But what do you really think
Equals stardom in Europe. Kid is getting bad advice
Are Him, Smith Jr and Craft taking the same flight? Group rate?
I see European YMCA league and couch surfing in Della Valle's future...
Reminded me of Sideshow Bob. So glad I no longer have to look at his ugly mug anymore.
Yes, this. This so much!
European basketball must be worse than OSU basketball.
I'll bet that the offense is much better.
He still looks like he was beaten with an ugly stick.
Oh and best of luck to him, I suppose.
He was garbage at OSU. How is he getting paid to play basketball?
Wondering how long he'll make it. I want that impressed with him this year
#HeOff....to Europe.
Thanks. This made me giggle
Who cares?
Well, for his career at OSU then, he averaged about 10 minutes per game, a 35.2% FG%, 34.0% 3FG% and was 63% from the line. In addition, he averaged about 2 rebounds and less than 1 assist, steal and block per game. I have to think that Della Valle is not getting the best advice, but his contract apparently is a multiyear deal that would total something around $300,000 per Alex Gleitman over at Bucknuts.
So he's taking a pay cut?
edit: beaten by Barwis effect
Going pro in pine riding.
If you're going to ride the bench, might as well get paid for it.
Michigan was trying to go after Amedeo?
That does seem to be the case:

Some leagues in Europe aren't as competitive as NCAA, and his game might translate better. That said, I always laughed when he was described as an X-Factor for OSU. Dude was garbage. When he's your X-Factor, your team is garbage. That's like calling Max our X-Factor. He can give us quality minutes when needed every now and then.
As a farewell, I'd like to quote Amadeo "WOW! Michigan doesn't have room for me now and I didn't get to visit?! That's really fair!" This was right after Hello: Spike. Things work out.
Crazy how X-Factor matches up three lines in a row.
Not sure why he would leave OSU. With his athlete status and that mug of his, college is his best shot to get laid
It was Spike we gave the last scholly to over him? I thought it was Levert that we decided on over Della Valle. And they better pray that Ross stays. Where will their scoring come from without Smith, Ross, Craft (not that he scores but he can distribute) and Della Valle? You telling me a team with Sam Thompson and Shannon Scott as the primary offensive weapons scares anyone?
Very good classes coming in.
So did Kentucky. Freshman, no matter how good, are still freshman.
Unless their Michigan freshman, in which case they're really, really good.
dude is not good at basketball
Isn't OSU bringing in 2 5-stars at the SG/SF position? Might explain some of it.
He might as well go. Even if he stayed at Ohio as long as Robbie Hummel was at Purdue, his future still would be sitting on the pine in Italy.
Glad we got Spike. The NW Indiana guys put the game away for us this afternoon.
LOL Ohio...
Why would he want to take a pay cut to go play in Europe?
I read the title and wondered at what, exactly, this young man was planning to "go pro" as basketball made so little sense.
He sucks at college basketball so I hope he's not going to the most elite European league.
they have a very good class coming in, but none of them are PG or shooters. They can't score from the outside this year and they won't be any better next year. But at least with Craft gone their 3 pt percentage can only get better.

counts toward 3 pt %

I'm guessing that this was his plan the whole time. Maybe the coaching staff found out about this and decided to stop recruiting him.

and most of us were wrong. Spike is so so so so much better than Della Valle will ever be...and approximately 8x as good looking too
We took Caris over him, not Spike. The feeling is the same, though.
