happen but I was going to make a diary post about the increase of them outside of game action the other day. Seems like every day an NFL team loses a guy to one now and college is getting as bad (per capita) with us having some devastating ones recently. This is the opposite feeling of a random "hello:" post.

I really hope he can make a full recovery and be a productive player in the future.

On a more board related note can we agree to not rip that guy who tweets insider injury info? He has been pretty accurate so far, 3/3 by my count. Wether or not he should tweet out injury info in the first place is another issue but its not like he is making it up.

Obviously at this point I'm just convincing myself it'll be ok, whether that's true or not (I do believe it will be), but what about Jake Butt? We don't really have a tall, rangy receiver other than Dukes who could fill a similar role, so why not put a heavier emphasis on the TEs

This sucks but Devin a really good QB and I believe he has the ability to make his receivers better. I also believe the receivers have put in the work because they know they will get the ball more this year.

Is wasting their time. Darboh was going to be very good this year. Insider reports were very, very positive on him. Hopefully Chesson can step up. This is a big loss.

Hopefully Armara heals from this.  For the mgodoctors on the board, you know what I'm talking about (have received too many flamebaits recs in the past to publicly speculate)

If blocking is your worry, then you shouldn't because Reynolds was probably the best blocker last year even. Only problem is that Borges put him out there just to block and the obvious play tipping personnel substitutions become obvious because Borges wouldn't let Reynolds really run routes..

Not good news to wake up to. He was the one player I had high hopes for a break out season. I'm confident our other WRs will find success with DG under center.

Chesson is still playable and Darboh is still young and will be back next year. Sure it sucks right now, but who knows maybe DaMario Jones steps up or Norfleet blossoms. Season hasn't started yet. That said someone put Devin in bubble ball NOW.

Much rationalizing is afoot, but this is a huge loss for this team. Our receiving corps was highly suspect already. There is no other receiver like Darboh on the team, not Chesson, not among the freshmen. Besides Darboh, feel really bad for Devin. Guy has no one to throw to. I think this injury equals at least one more loss on the schedule.

God bless Gallon and Dileo, but they're 5'9". My hopes for Funchess are really high, but he disappeared in the latter half of the year when Devin came on. Plus, he's an end. I just wish Devin had some viable big WR targets. I thought Darboh was going to be that guy for him. Maybe Chesson can be, too, but it sounds like he struggles more with blocking, which isn't the key to playing time with this staff.

Call it whatever you want. There are no controlled experiments in sports. No counterfactuals. We'll never know what this season will have looked like with Darboh playing. Someone will step up, sure, but my feeling is that he won't be as good as Darboh. That is confirmed by virtue of Darboh running with the first team and Chesson et al. running with the second or third teams. I guess the question is how much of a gap there is between Darboh and the other WRs. I think it's a pretty large one when you take into account size, speed, catching, blocking, route running. A lot of this is based on insidery tid-bitty type stuff, but I get the feeling that Darboh had separated himself quite a bit.

I don't know, I guess I just don't buy into the pre-season hype.  I think Amara would have been a nice weapon to have this year, but he might have accounted for 20 catches at most, unless he was an absolute breakout star.

I keep remembering looking at Jackson, Savoy, and any number of other outside WRs that never panned out, despite their size and practice rumbles.

I do hope Darboh becomes a star next year, but I'll wait until he's making the catches.

Does this happen as often to Ohio like it happens to us?  I'd love a Mathlete data sheet on how much more often we are losing players for the season prior to the first game relative to our biggest rivals.

Hopefully, Darboh's recovery is full and without incident. On ESPN's write-up, Hoke had this to say:

"I love Amara, and just hate it for him, how hard he worked through the offseason and fall camp to earn a starting role," Michigan coach Brady Hoke said in the release. "We'll rally around him like a family does and help him get through this difficult time."

The staff and team do an excellent job, it seems, of encouraging players through their recoveries, and they are definitely motivated to get back to it as soon as possible. It is a shame - it seems like Darboh was doing quite well in camp.

I appreciate you guys staying level headed and proclaiming "It's football, all teams experience this", but do you really believe that? How many teams lose this many prominent players in less than a year? Best DB Countess lost for the year, Bryant lost for the year, Toussaint lost for the end of season and bowl game, Denard lost as QB, Ryan lost for significant period of time and now Darboh lost for the season. These are severe injuries to some of the best players on the roster and it's certainly not the norm. As someone pointed out earlier, just compare UM to OSU, and im fairly certain there is a big difference in the frequency of these incidents.Having said that, Chesson will pick up the slack.

Doesn't really seem like an abnormal injury rate to me, we just have been so thin a depth the last couple of years that the injuries have a more dramatic impact. Here's hoping in a couple of years we can take these in stride and wish the kid luck with his extra redshirt year.

If OSU loses Roby(best DB/Countess) for the season. Then Carlos Hyde(RB/Toussaint) breaks his leg and misses the rest of the year. Braxton Miller (QB/Denard) injures his elbow and loses all ability to throw for the remainder of the season. Then Ryan Shazier(best LB/Ryan) tears his ACL.Then whomever the most promising young reciever on the OSU roster is(Darboh) injures his foot and misses the entire season. That is the equivalent of what has transpired at Michigan. It's not necessarily the injury rate that's alarming but more the injury rate to the best players on the roster.

It just comes down to how well you recruit, how well you grow you talent, and how lucky you are in that your depth is sufficient enough to get by and win. Hoke has been here long enough to have sufficient depth be a major asset, however given how well we have been recruiting its only a matter of time. Just have to be patient and trust the staff to get the most out of the kids to compete at a high level.

Fricken kidding me? What the hell is going on over there? Is it the field turf or what? I'm starting to get a bit pissed as its be mount the norm that our players are missing a shit load of time w injuries,

Here's to a speedy, yet thorough recovery for him.  With it being Dileo's and Gallon's last season, it's probably more important for him to be healthy and ready to go for us next year.

Injuries happen....but we seem to consistently lose irreplaceable players. We have other options but none received the praise of Darboh. Interesting to see if Jones, York or the freshman from Columbus can help this year. No real silver lining in a likely starter being lost for the year.
