Allswede (Former MSU Sexual Assault Counselor) Fires New Shots at Dantonio

Lauren Allswede, MSU's former Sexual Assault Counselor, is not happy that Dantonio said ESPN's reporting was false and she fired off new shots back at Dantonio and told him that he must accept his individual responsibility.

Some of her quotes:

"They don't appear to see the women as anything more than a number, or anything other than a threat to their reputation"

"They haven't been to a medical forensic exam, watched people jump when a picture is taken or wince when a swab is taken ... They don't see the shame these survivors feel -- the visceral collapse, the shaking leg, the knotted tissues, and averted eyes"

"Dantonio and Izzo should tell us how they are weak. They should tell us how they are scared, that they've worried no one will ever love them again. That they have difficulty concentrating or carrying on lighthearted conversation. ... And if you think that's unfair, why do you think it is fair for survivors?"

She point blank says that athletes accused of sexual assault got preferential treatment:

"Whatever protocol or policy was in place, whatever frontline staff might normally be involved in response or investigation, it all got kind of swept away, and it was handled more by administration [and] athletic department officials," Allswede, who worked at MSU for seven years, told Outside the Lines. "It was all happening behind closed doors. ... None of it was transparent or included people who would normally be involved in certain decisions."

I don't think Dantonio did himself any favors with his press conference, especially if Allswede is proven correct.  Dantonio has already lied about the whole he has never had to deal with sexual assaults from his players before (unless he is completely incompetent and has no control).

Huh....who would have thought that coming across as an unapproachable, intimidating bully as "Coach D" did in his presser would be received in such a negative manner.  Did something happen recently at MSU?

HE is the poster-child for tone-deaf.

As for Izzo...I almost felt sorry for him with his "I said what I said last week and then I said all I can say today, so thats really all I can say....but I want to be a healer".....He was clearly struggling with the whole thing.  he should have made a prepared statement and then taken questions ONLY about the hoops game.

Their complete disarray in the PR department might be pretty telling in that now that the circle of trust is broken it is every man for himself.

Nothing he can say now will help him keep his job. He might as well go down being defiant and admitting nothing. That will give the defenders of his legacy something to hold onto.

I never expected to say that Dantonio is done, but I'm convinced it's true. The new president and AD aren't going to wait for the AG's report. They'll know the gist of what he's going to find out. There's no advantage to MSU in waiting. The sooner they clean house, the sooner they can repair their image. Dragging it out with Dantonio on TV broadcasts and giving press conferences every week isn't worth whatever might be gained.

At this point I'd say there's a better chance of Bielema coaching them next season.

I was a grad student in Madison from '07-'13, and I assure you, Bielema is NOT the coach you want to rehab your image.  There were never rumors about any serious problems, but the dude is more than just a bit sleazy.  Frequent public intox reports and bar dust ups.  Not the players - him.

coach as a one year interim, where he'll keep all of the assistants they can. Then start over with a normal coaching search for 2019. John L. Smith sounds like a joke, but he did that at Arkansas after they fired Petrino and before they hired Bielema.

Listened to Fox Sports Radio on and off today and Izzo and Mork are rightly getting raked across the coals. The bad PR may end up doing them in after all.

the mood or tone of Dantonio’s response. It the same as the one he used for his “Pride goes before the fall”, “It’s not over, it’s just getting started” and every other response. That is who he is.

dantonio can hide...until he resigns in a few months.  izzo on the other hand will have multiple press conferences each week until the end of the year and will have to continually face the music as more info keeps dripping.  he then will resign once they are bounced from the tourny.

If he knew and did nothing he needs to go. I’d say the same thing about Harbaugh. His ass would need to go too.

This is bigger than football. This is about your decency as a human being. Football always takes a back seat to this.

It is fucking rich to see my MSU friends I know spreading this article around again like it somehow invalidates the investigative work that the reporters on Outside the Lines are doing. What the hell kind of shoddy deflection is this?

People love their sports teams and scientific research shows that people can't think logically about things they love.

I just got off the phone with an MSU fan who thinks Izzo did everything by the books and is 100% innocent and that Hollis did everything that is bad completely behind Izzo's back and the rest are lies by Allswede who is looking to cash in.

Dantonio is a piece of shit human. I wish him the worst in every possible way. I hope that he and his cronies are proven to be the horrible human beings they are. I hope Michigan state becomes a wasteland and the victims of these terrible crimes get the support (first and foremost) and money they deserve in a civil lawsuit against that trashy university located in east landfill. I have nothing good to say about that place and nothing good to say for Penn State. Both should be removed from the Big Ten because they’re places of zero ethical or moral standards.

The guy set an impossible bar for himself in the press conference. Especially since there were other sexual assaults involving his players in the past he claimed didn't exist.

Now every case is going to be open for close scrutiny by people outside of the school. So either every single one of those previously uknown cases was made up BS. Or the only assaulters who ever got thrown off the football team were the ones who couldn't get the authorities on the criminal and Title IX side to back off.

Perhaps his pride got to him as he is about to fall.

He is either going to come off as a powerless prick who had a dozen sex crimes committed by his players while not having a clue, which means the AD had a lack of institutional control and bring on postseason bans -- or -- he will come off as an enabler and accepter of sex crimes.

Either way you don't want that for a coach - he is gone if MSU has any character once Allswede's version is only half proven.
