900 wins - congrats on being the first to achieve an awesome CFB record

Submitted by ChicagoB1GRed on

As a rival fan my hat's off to Michigan for an incredible accomplishment---wow, that's a lot of Hail Victors!

With all the changes in CFB, programs rise and fall: the Florida St's, Boise St's, and Oregons come and go. Winning NINE HUNDRED says: we've been really good in the past and  present, and will always be really good. An occasional dip here and there, but over the long haul, excellence endures. That's what separates the men from the boys.

The most impressive thing about this milestone besides the wins is that Michigan runs a clean big time program. No Oklahoma or Alabama here.

Been a few posts here and around the web about "900",  thought you guys would whoop it up more on this board, maybe the celebration on the field sufficed (whatever you were celebrating)--after all it's your victory and record so enjoy as you see fit.

This week's game against Nebraska will likely decide the Legends and maybe the B1G title. Cool fact, the  game will also be the first conference game in college football history where both teams have won at least 850 games all-time.

As extra juice for the home crowd, Nebraska will also be commemorating 50 years of sellout crowds at Memorial Stadium, while playing all-timer leader Michigan in your first game ever at Memorial Stadium.

Preseason I figured this game for the divisional showdown, looking forward to a fantastic game. Your team and fans will be treated with respect, win or lose. We'll appreciate your team's history and accomplishments as much as any fan base you'll ever meet.

Picture shows Antelope Field, where Michigan played last time you visited Lincoln in..........1911. This will be your first visit to Memorial Stadium

Charles Woodson says, we're coming for another trophy. One that was mistakenly sent to Lincoln, NE instead of Ann Arbor, MI, oh about 15 years ago.

I say, we make this a trophy game for real.

Make half of a crystal football Blue with a half of the white stripe of a football Maize. Half red with the white stripe white. Put it on a base so it's detachable like that 1997 crystal football trophy is (that belongs here) and call it the "Undisputed Championship".

We must fight the urge to like Nebraska fans.  They are sweet-talking savages who will eat your heart given the chance.

I'm in the process of arranging a last-minute trip from the Bay Area to Lincoln with a buddy of mine. I've heard Nebraska has the best gameday atmosphere in the country. I went to last year's game in Ann Arbor and there were tons of Nebraska fans who made the trip. They were also some of the classiest visiting fans I've seen in Ann Arbor. Hope we represent Michigan in kind.

that Nebraska and Michigan have something in common besides a large number of victories:

Fielding Yost.

He coached Nebraska to an 8-3 record in 1898.

I was happy to see NEB come into the B1G.  But it is so damned far to see a ball game.  Good luck to your team this year (other than us).  I look forward to years and years of good comppetition.

Wow could you imagine if we didn't have professional sports like Nebraska? Mich could sell out 300k each game! #crazy Nebraska fans are awesome, and should be a good game.

There's a Cornhusker Bar right down the street from my apartment in Vegas.  I'm tempted to walk into it next Saturday with my Michigan hoodie on.  Wonder how that will go over?

Let's say we make the B1G championship game an average of every other year under Hoke.  Seems reasonable.  That would mean we play an average of 13.5 games per season.

Michigan's all-time winning percentage is .735.  That means we should pick up an average of 9.92 wins per season.  Therefore, exactly 10 years from last week's Sparty game we should have 99 more wins... meaning that Saturday, October 29, 2022 should be our 1000th win.

Book it.
