900 wins - congrats on being the first to achieve an awesome CFB record
As a rival fan my hat's off to Michigan for an incredible accomplishment---wow, that's a lot of Hail Victors!
With all the changes in CFB, programs rise and fall: the Florida St's, Boise St's, and Oregons come and go. Winning NINE HUNDRED says: we've been really good in the past and present, and will always be really good. An occasional dip here and there, but over the long haul, excellence endures. That's what separates the men from the boys.
The most impressive thing about this milestone besides the wins is that Michigan runs a clean big time program. No Oklahoma or Alabama here.
Been a few posts here and around the web about "900", thought you guys would whoop it up more on this board, maybe the celebration on the field sufficed (whatever you were celebrating)--after all it's your victory and record so enjoy as you see fit.
This week's game against Nebraska will likely decide the Legends and maybe the B1G title. Cool fact, the game will also be the first conference game in college football history where both teams have won at least 850 games all-time.
As extra juice for the home crowd, Nebraska will also be commemorating 50 years of sellout crowds at Memorial Stadium, while playing all-timer leader Michigan in your first game ever at Memorial Stadium.
Preseason I figured this game for the divisional showdown, looking forward to a fantastic game. Your team and fans will be treated with respect, win or lose. We'll appreciate your team's history and accomplishments as much as any fan base you'll ever meet.
Picture shows Antelope Field, where Michigan played last time you visited Lincoln in..........1911. This will be your first visit to Memorial Stadium

Antelope Stadium... awesome.

Charles Woodson says, we're coming for another trophy. One that was mistakenly sent to Lincoln, NE instead of Ann Arbor, MI, oh about 15 years ago.
October 23rd, 2012 at 2:19 PM ^
Thats our trophy, and you know it!
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:26 PM ^
I didn't notice the John Williams/Spielberg-esque track when I saw it at the stadium.
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:33 PM ^
Beautiful.

Sorry for Off-Topic,
Do you have video of Michigan vs Syracuse in 1998?
October 23rd, 2012 at 2:20 PM ^
Get out a here man.
October 23rd, 2012 at 3:18 PM ^
...will be worth it. Working on a project for this site. Ideally I would have the play-by-play boxscore but I'm having trouble finding it. Definitely not a Syracuse guy here...Michigan born, raised, educated, etc.
October 22nd, 2012 at 10:13 PM ^
to my good eye. Willie Heston on the program cover for 300th win. Willie was the man. Loved him. Im surprised wwe did not get any milestones against ohio.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:17 AM ^
video! did you create this Thorin?
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:07 PM ^
Thank you, and I hope we get a great game next week...hopefully one in which we win in close fashion
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:10 PM ^
Good post. I didn't know about the game being the first amongst two 850+ win squads.
Good luck the rest of your season, including your non-Rose Bowl bowl game.

901 coming on Saturday ChicagoBIGRed!
October 22nd, 2012 at 10:14 PM ^
Lets do it up good too.
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:14 PM ^
I say, we make this a trophy game for real.
Make half of a crystal football Blue with a half of the white stripe of a football Maize. Half red with the white stripe white. Put it on a base so it's detachable like that 1997 crystal football trophy is (that belongs here) and call it the "Undisputed Championship".
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:19 PM ^
is an awesome idea. Especially with the loss of the Notre Dame rivalry for the forseeable future.
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:24 PM ^
It would definitely be pretty awesome... but there's something weird about starting up something now, although I still fully support the idea.
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:23 PM ^
Genius.
October 22nd, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
They played shit teams, and won a game in OT on an illegal play. Woodson would have shut that shit down alone.
October 26th, 2012 at 12:05 PM ^
It should be a blogosphere level trophy - instead of the programs themselves handing it back & forth, it should reside in Brian Cook's office (office? bedroom? dungeon-esque underground lair?) and the headquarters of an esteemed Nebraska blog.

A nice fan from a rival fanbase congratulating us profusely... RDT is that you?
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:43 PM ^
I'd hardly consider Alabama a rival of Michigan.
October 22nd, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
You seem confused as to who RDT is.
October 23rd, 2012 at 11:00 AM ^
Ignore me, I'm an idiot who can't read properly
October 22nd, 2012 at 11:40 PM ^
I'd like to say that I am one of the bigger sniffer-outers of bullshit on this board. I think this guy is legit, and will not affix the RDT moniker. Nebraska fans are notoriously awesome, I for one am not skeptical at this point.
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:20 PM ^
I only hear good things about Nebraska fans
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:21 PM ^
We must fight the urge to like Nebraska fans. They are sweet-talking savages who will eat your heart given the chance.
October 22nd, 2012 at 10:18 PM ^
everyone that last year I tailgated with some Red fans. They were the best. I actually like them. I feel the same way about NWU too; but NEB fans are just too damned nice. I cant hate them.
October 26th, 2012 at 10:38 AM ^
wait a minute, I thought they only ate Bugs?
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:24 PM ^
Saw this post on the sidebar and knew immediately it had to be from a Nebraska fan or maybe Northwestern but I'm not sure they actually have fans.
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:35 PM ^
that is all..
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:45 PM ^
I'm in the process of arranging a last-minute trip from the Bay Area to Lincoln with a buddy of mine. I've heard Nebraska has the best gameday atmosphere in the country. I went to last year's game in Ann Arbor and there were tons of Nebraska fans who made the trip. They were also some of the classiest visiting fans I've seen in Ann Arbor. Hope we represent Michigan in kind.
October 22nd, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
another tradition rich and successful program.
October 22nd, 2012 at 9:50 PM ^
I know, Sparty was getting tiresome
October 22nd, 2012 at 10:03 PM ^
I see what you did there
October 22nd, 2012 at 9:25 PM ^
that Nebraska and Michigan have something in common besides a large number of victories:
Fielding Yost.
He coached Nebraska to an 8-3 record in 1898.
October 22nd, 2012 at 9:27 PM ^
Yost liked us better.
October 22nd, 2012 at 10:21 PM ^
thank God he did.
October 22nd, 2012 at 9:53 PM ^
Just noticed that 4 of the 9 even 100 victories were shutouts...Pretty awesome!
October 26th, 2012 at 11:24 AM ^
Not that surprising. In the early 1900s, probably half of all games were shutouts.
October 22nd, 2012 at 10:23 PM ^
I was happy to see NEB come into the B1G. But it is so damned far to see a ball game. Good luck to your team this year (other than us). I look forward to years and years of good comppetition.
October 22nd, 2012 at 10:24 PM ^
Wow could you imagine if we didn't have professional sports like Nebraska? Mich could sell out 300k each game! #crazy Nebraska fans are awesome, and should be a good game.
October 23rd, 2012 at 12:01 AM ^
There's a Cornhusker Bar right down the street from my apartment in Vegas. I'm tempted to walk into it next Saturday with my Michigan hoodie on. Wonder how that will go over?
October 23rd, 2012 at 1:00 AM ^
Thank you.
The game Saturday night should be epic. I'm very nervous but excited for a clean game.
October 23rd, 2012 at 9:29 AM ^
We're looking forward to picking up win #1000 oh, sometime in late 2021 or early 2022.
October 26th, 2012 at 11:32 AM ^
Let's say we make the B1G championship game an average of every other year under Hoke. Seems reasonable. That would mean we play an average of 13.5 games per season.
Michigan's all-time winning percentage is .735. That means we should pick up an average of 9.92 wins per season. Therefore, exactly 10 years from last week's Sparty game we should have 99 more wins... meaning that Saturday, October 29, 2022 should be our 1000th win.
Book it.
