An entire election season

Man, come on, it CAN'T be that bad.

Somebody start a vote for chase winovich thread please. Info on his Twitter. I need a few more points to start a thread.

Call me a sadist, but I find it kinda fun and awesome.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:54 AM ^
You sadist
January 7th, 2019 at 11:57 AM ^
If you're into the "circus" of politics, you'd better buckle up buttercup. Shits gonna get reeeeeeaaaalll silly over the next 2 years.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:57 PM ^
Ugh! I'm afraid you're right. Thinking about moving to Slovakia. Random I know but anybody can do Canada.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:22 PM ^
Bama and Clemson are 100% deserving and therefore I have zero issue with their paying over and over. People don't hate other rivalry games that are played every year, this just happens to be one that isn;t scheduled.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:36 PM ^
Your typo was most appropriate.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:26 PM ^
I love election season. It allows me to point out how stupid 1/2 of the country is.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:42 PM ^
This is incredibly well-done - because nobody knows which side you're referencing, everyone hates you for this.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:32 PM ^
I believe he is referring to both halves.

srsly. when people my age say they still watch awards shows, I'm like .........?!
January 7th, 2019 at 10:58 AM ^
They're so dumb anymore. People care more about what the actors/musicians (particularly the females) are wearing than the actual awards.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:39 AM ^
They were always dumb. Only a handful care that some people started giving each other awards less than 100 years ago.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:18 PM ^
... people ANY age...
/FIFY
January 7th, 2019 at 1:08 PM ^
I like the awards shows just to try and count all the people that bitch about them and think they have a "hawt take" by doing so.
January 7th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
It's the 2 best teams. Regardless of how they became the best, they are the 2 best. And it beats ohio state being in there .
January 7th, 2019 at 10:26 AM ^
The limited number of football games in a season precludes a conclusion like that.
Basketball on the other hand...
January 7th, 2019 at 11:00 AM ^
I'm actually looking forward to the game, PaulWall. I won't watch it live (recording and watching it tomorrow at the office), though. The kick time is 8:45 or something ridiculous...on a MONDAY night.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:14 AM ^
Im looking forward to it as well. Hopefully a good game.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:45 PM ^
Your plan reminded me of what I did last year. Watched the first half, falling asleep on couch, hit record, wake up watch 2nd half over breakfast. ( Just don’t look at your phone or listen to radio). Fast forward thru ads, reviews, targeting calls, TO’s and 40 mins later off to work.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:54 PM ^
Does your boss know you're going to watch an entire football game at work?
January 7th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
And I'm still not going to watch it.
January 7th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
+1. I have no interest in watching this game. It's a meteor-strike game. Can we arrange that?
January 7th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
Well, that would be bad for all living beings on Earth. So....no.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:29 PM ^
Two great defenses complimented by electric offenses. At least it will be fun, 21st century college football.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Wait. We're in the 21st century? Seeing the past two coaching regimes at UM, I thought we were in the 1980s.
January 7th, 2019 at 10:23 AM ^
Dental work. Kidney stones. Watching tv shows with canned laughter.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:08 AM ^
Canned laughter is the worst. If your show contains a canned laugh track, then your show sucks ass and is not worthy of my time. No arguments. Canned laugh tracks mean the show sucks.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:23 AM ^
YES !
I wish i had more up votes to give you .
January 7th, 2019 at 12:58 PM ^
Disagree.
January 7th, 2019 at 10:23 AM ^
Bama and Clemson are head and shoulders above everyone else. I'm not sure what you mean by "won't support the current system." Any system that didn't result in these two teams playing is a flawed system.
January 7th, 2019 at 10:31 AM ^
Additionally true is that the system that produces these odds defying outcomes is also flawed if not rigged.
January 7th, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
Where's the flawed or "rigged" portion that led us to Alabama and Clemson?
January 7th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
I'm talking specifically about the playoff system. You seem to be talking about the sport as a whole.
Which, like, fair. But also, most of us are here because we love watching this sport. And to be fair, when you look across D1 college football things are by and large rigged towards the programs with the most money, and Michigan sits in that top tier money-wise. So by and large things are rigged in our favor as well, we just haven't been able to take full advantage.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:19 PM ^
The argument as you have laid it out, actually counters itself. If it truly was only about ability to spend money, Michigan & Texas should easily be in the top 4 every year. Instead we get Clemson, Alabama and a rotation of ND, OSU, and Oklahoma.
Yes, being able to spend money is a starting point, but the real difference amongst the spending elite is the willingness to take part in "....cough, cough other activities".
I know there is a contingent which does not like this argument, but it is the most likely given what you have already said. How have the top two revenue schools in the country not been in the playoff once during it's existence if other things are not happening.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:37 PM ^
The argument as you have laid it out, actually counters itself.
No it doesn't, since I didn't say what you think I said. I said that it's rigged in favor of the wealthiest programs. It is. That doesn't mean that specific wealthiest programs will win. There's a tier of teams who can spend money essentially indefinitely. Michigan is in that tier.
And teams doing better than us "because they cheat" doesn't mean the system is rigged against us, because we're fully capable of cheating if we choose to do so. And, although I believe that we don't cheat to the extent that some other programs do, we are by no means squeaky clean. I was at UM <5 years ago and knew a good number of players and I can tell you point blank that we're not squeaky clean. Players get extra perks. It happens.
January 7th, 2019 at 12:44 PM ^
I agree there is a tier and Michigan is in it. I also believe there are further sub-segments within that tier.
Like you, I fully accept Michigan has to do it's fair share of things to field the talent they do. I said it in a post last week. There are teams that pay recruits, there are team which use steroids, there are teams which use questionable roster management practices.....then there are team that do all it.
That is the sub segmentation I would prefer the NCAA fix to insure a more even (not even) playing field.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:23 AM ^
Of course the best teams should play for the championship but the problem I have is that the NCAA sat by and allowed Nick Saban to cheat and buy the best recruiting classes for years and years which is why we have to watch Bama in the championship every single year.
The NCAA allowed Bama to grow out of control and its destroyed diversity in the NCAAF championship
January 7th, 2019 at 1:07 PM ^
^ this is the point
January 7th, 2019 at 10:29 AM ^
I'm not going to watch, and I hope viewership is way down.
January 7th, 2019 at 10:29 AM ^
You would be completely fine with this if it were Michigan in this situation. Clemson and Alabama are just so much better then everyone else and I cannot fault them for greatness. Me personally, I like seeing these two teams play against each other because its the two best teams.
January 7th, 2019 at 10:30 AM ^
Eating a lemon?
I may watch some of it, but I won't watch the whole thing. For the first time in my life, I am actually more interested in the NFL than college football. I would love to see the offense in a Saints-Chiefs Superbowl.
January 7th, 2019 at 10:35 AM ^
I’m strangely in the same mindset. Alabama and Clemson tonight represents the equivalent of what would be the AAA championship in baseball. AAA players are paid, just not as much. By hook or by crook Bama runs the best minor league football program.
Whoopee
