"It's a dream to one day work for my dad, and hopefully the opportunity will come," said Harbaugh's son, Jay. "He understood where I was coming from."

If that young man wasn't working for his Uncle or his Dad I don't know what he'd be doing. But with a beard like that I'm sure it would be no good!

Maybe Baxter has a little side job grooming the young paduan in the intracacies of the TE position, all under the watchful eye of his proud papa. In exchange, Jay helps coaches break down film. Point is, there is so much experience on this staff, there is room to let a young coach who has paid his dues (NFL QC coaches are not glamorous) get some real coaching experience.

How cool is this?

I'll tell you how cool, EXTREMELY FUCKING COOL!

Jim Harbaugh is bringing his whole family to Ann Arbor. This means that Ann Arbor is where Jim Harbaugh will coach  the reminder of his days. This is probably the greatest news ever.

if so, Jay is likely some type of Assistant position coach with some other minor responsibilities. If Baxter is special teams only, and there is some type of problem with Jay coaching, there is an experienced tight ends coach on the staff with to the best of my knowledge, no other offensive position responsibilities.

The tight ends will be solely coached by Harbaugh's 25-year-old son. In fact, our tight ends will not be allowed to have contact with any other coach throughout the duration of their eligibility.

Sorry, I'm still getting over the people who were upset that we hired an NFL OC as a wide receivers coach.

How does Chris Clark or potentially Wheatley Jr. respond to this? I presume not well. If it were me I would want a more established sensei. Just an opinion of course. On the other hand, recruiting with a SB ring on my finger might take care of doubters.

That's fine but this is just any hire. He's hire someone without experience who happens to be his son. That alone is gonna raise more eyebrows. People were raising eyesbrows about who he hired as his OC choice but figure it doesn't matter because he's a great oline coach and Jim will call plays

Tim Drevno amoung others with experience were their position coaches. The H2 is no slouch. Working for the Ravens in the capacity he did proves that. I'm just not sold that a rebuilding situation warrants such gambling. Sometimes making decisions from the heart, especially when it comes to family, may not be a great idea. Although, if Wheatley Jr. comes he will certainly have a coach he can relate too.

This implies that the TE coach is the only one working with tight ends during practice, which is extremely unlikely, given Drevno, Baxter, Harbaugh, and Fisch all have experience with the position in some capacity.

Harbaugh hired a coaching staff at Stanford that, time after time, turned unheralded recruits, including walk-ons, into NFL draftees. The armachair criticism of these hires is approaching absurdity, especially considering no one said jack about the coaches Hoke brought with him until they started to fail.

Look, it's not like I'm about ready to say screw it I'm finding another team to root for. It's a gamble of a hire just admit it. This being said I agree, the lad will not be left alone to sink. He will have top shelf coaching talent surrounding him. I trust JH has his pulse on his sons abilities. I'm merely trying to speculate just as you. We hired the best possible coach available in the land. I trust JH. This is simply not a move that is indicative of his past decision making and it's family. How will this affect recruiting is my question. I'm not saying it won't work.....
