The less-than-impressive performance of our OL during the last three seasons might be a rational reason for top OL recruits to look elsewhere, but that's certainly not the case with our DL, especially with Mo likely going in the first round. Pretty strange that not a single DT recruit we've gone after isn't willing to come here with our coaching staff.

I'm sure that behind the scenes Harbaugh and staff are trying to address those concerns, but I wonder if a more public statement reassuring recruits—like Partridge releasing his new contract for public view—would have helped.

I'd imagine other schools are also pointing out that Michigan took a two-deep of DL last year.

Hurst going early should help out for future 'crootin. Michigan hasn't had a DT drafted in the first two rounds since Alan Branch in 2007.

EDIT: To threadjack the threadjack, is Alce a take? Your visitors list is the first place I'm hearing his name.

I think this is part of why Al Washington is now there.  If he develops a relationship with them too, he's a likely DL coach if Mattison does decide to (shudder) retire.  Might make someone next year feel more secure.  You know by coaching LB's he's basically watching every move Mattison makes.

We pulled a 5 star DT out of Georgia just last year.  Along with 2 more 4 star DT and another 3 star DT.   I think we're going to be fine.   It's not like we haven't been able to pull in anyone.

I think we went into the season with limited space on the Dline.  They zeroed in on Friday and lost out.  2019 already has Hinton on the dline and I expect more to follow.

It seems like UM was in pretty good standing with Sandidge a while ago. But like most things with the 2017 year, UM seemed to let the recruiment slip for reasons unknown. Hopefully there is still good interest. A visit is not a bad thing.

We all prefer the higher rated players. It’s Maizens constant whining about it that is so irritating. I’d love to recruit like OSU but it hasn’t happened yet. We’ve had two very strong classes and this year is solid, just not packed with star power. Harbaugh did pretty well at Stanford with mostly 3 stars and this class is much better than those. I’m not “happy” but not willing to act like every commit is a bum either. I think there are a lot of 3 stars on our list that have huge potential.

Is better than a Midwest 3 star? I mean, do they try to balance or at least keep it from seeming like there is not such a big drop in available talent from region to region? On a neutral field would a west coast team of three stars walk over a Midwest 3 star squad? Is that why JH had better success with the same star power out west?

You know, you're right. I apologize for this wise crack. This is a Very Serious Message Board discussing very serious things.

Now, I'll let you and the other Very Serious Adult Males get back to your Very Serious Discussion of where an 18 year old you've never met decides to go to college to play a game.
